Who would win?

My friend has a 03 CLK 320 CAB, she claims her car is faster then mine and she can beat me, I did my research and found we both have 215 HP and roughly the same tourque. Im thinking about betting her like $150 that I can win at a drag track or something but dont want to bet if I wont win.
Thanks for the advice

Check the weight - I believe that the MB is heavier. As well, the MB torque is available at higher rpm than yours. I think there is a good chance you will winn - especially if the MB is automatic.

you can try and track down 0-60 on the merc,
I would bet it'd be close but the 3 should take the merc down (as long as you don't bog the launch if you have a manual)

I have auto and so does she, I can shift manually or goto DS since that would be an advantage.

My girls mother has the same car, except its not a convertible. The one thing that u should think about is that Mercedes are no slackers, just as BMs arent. Just cause they have no manual doesnt mean they wont leave u in the dust. If u race her make sure u practice on your take offs. Try and find the right RPMs to take off from. When I first got my car i remember i was catching first second and third gear (having the tires catch). Just practice first, cause it might not be that easy.

The curb weight of the 320 convertable is 3600 lbs and I found out its top speed is electronically limited to 135 and isnt ours 145 non sport?

So let me see if i have this right? The race would be close but I probablly would beat her due to the 300+ lbs her car has over mine?

Yeah, assuming that the engine performance is close, the weight advantage and the fact that your auto is a 6 speed vs MB's 5 speed should make you the winner.

dude, ur car has 225hp!! and yes i think u'll be able to win. i've been in a c230kompressor, c55amg, cls500, e350 and i can tell u of all these cars both c55amg and cls500 have good acceleration. i think clk320 will have slower acceleration than e90 coz i believe mb cars are always heavier than bmw's but thats just my opinion someone correct me if i'm mistaken.
if i were u, i would race her! put ur car in DS mode all the time, maybe that will help or shift manually whichever one u prefer
good luck bro

The 03 clk320 has 310Nm@3000rpm vs the 325 250@2750rpm. It also is 3.2L vs 2.5L. A quick research shows the CLK doing 6.9 and the 325 7.7 (both autos) so ....

i have a 06 e90 bmw 325i fyi. And that info would be wrong because my reasearch (5 different sites stated that the CLK ran a 7.4) and i know that your 7.7 is false becasue I ran a 6.9 in D not even DS so I could probablly run a 6.7 or 6.8 in DS, those arent official times either my friend pressed the stopwatch button on the I-drive so its probablly a little less then 6.9 but we will say 6.9 until i have proof that its faster.

Do you have a timeslip to prove it?

Stopwatches just doesnt do it for me.

hey aem u.s 325i has 215hp and 3000cc, next time get ur facts right

215 horsepower and 229 lb of torque -> 03 clk 320
215 horsepower and 185 lb of torque -> 06 325i

but remember the clk is heavier, 3515 lbs vs 3351lbs and clk is 5speed while bmw is a 6speed..

again, i'm confident that 325i would win against a clk320

oh btw here are the 0-60 acceleration for both cars:
clk320 -> 7.4
325i -> 7.2
both auto
the 6.9 u got is from a manual clk, a manual 325i does 6.7

My facts are not limited to the US, those are Austalian specs and if i go with that then the CLK have won. I didnt that's why i ended my reply with a "so ..." (meaning undecided and needing proof). I don't like to be too confidence in anything, i want hard evidence to be convinced, and a proper recognised track timeslip will do me fine.
