Manhattan tips
I go to Manhattan for business about 3 times a year, although haven't yet done so this year.
It's usually a really busy trip and I like to be in walking distance of the office, so I tend to stick around there (staying in one of the hotels near the Freedom Tower). I did wander around TriBeCa a couple of times on my last trip and found some more interesting bars/restaurants. Any tips from locals or regular visitors on some good places to eat or drink in walking distance of the Freedom Tower? Failing that, a simple subway trip away. I can't be bothered spending too much time travelling; would rather be walking when I am away for work.

There are so many options that you'll need to give a better idea of what you're looking for. You're better off in Tribeca or take the subway a few stops to SoHo and Greenwich Village.

Let me preference this with although I currently live in Michigan, I used live in NY.
I think one of the best things about the city is exploring, but let me give you a few ideas. If you want to stay downtown I would check the area by Fraunces Tavern, which is one of the oldest bars in NYC. I realize if you are from the UK old is relative term, but it is a good spot and there are other cool options near by. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous in the walking department (although still walk-able) I would up to spring st and check out the Spring Lounge and Lombardi's for pizza. People could argue for days about NY pizza, but Lombardi's is the original (albeit in a new location). Just to the west of that is a bunch of cool bars/restaurants in the are between Rivington and Delancy St. I would recommend Welcome to the Johnson's (1970's theme living room). Finally I do not think any trip to lower Manhattan is complete without a trip to McSorely's and if you are a punk rock fan you can wander down the street to Niagara (formerly A7's) where they have a big mural of Joe Strummer on the wall. |

You need to be a little bit more specific because there is just so many things to do. So many different cuisines, etc.
How long are you staying? For starters south street seaport is a nice area downtown. There's some great steakhouses nearby as well. |

Manhattan has hidden places that have great food, just ask coworkers. Be adventurous and try out to small places. People tend to go by trendy spots where every1 likes to hang out. I usually walk around, try whatever catches my eye. |

Freedom tower is a joke. Going up is like a disney ride and everything is so commercialized (not surprised).
However, the memorial site is breathtaking, at least for me. Hit up chinatown and get some cheap eats. BD to grand st should take you right in the middle. Or F to east broadway and walk towards manhattan br. |

Joe's Pizza on Carmine St.
Usually has a line, but dope pizza. In the West village. Bit of a walk from Freedom tower area, would recommend taking A,C, or F to West 4th.

Tamarind in TriBeCa is dope Indian food. Close to your area.
Best pizzas are in Brooklyn. LuCali, DiFara, and Paulie G's are my favorite. But yea, not as easy to traverse Brooklyn as it is Manhattan.

If you hit up 2nd Ave on the east side, you have an extremely wide variety of restaurants of all ethnicities. Tons of bars and lounges with a chill vibe and great atmosphere.
Oh, and if you say that the best pizza is in Brooklyn, you haven't been to the Bronx. Find your way to Morris park or Arthur Ave. |

Houston street area for good Rock N Roll, jazz and other types of music. This is the area that guys like Dylan played at before they were famous. It's all the same, only the names will change~
