I recommend passing on DIY floor coatings. They tend to not wear or age well. What I mean by that is: hot tire pick up, chipping, peeling, staining
, etc. I had my garage floor professionally coated and couldn't be happier. It's been about 3 years and looks just as great as Day 1. |

I went light-ish. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post. Dirt will definitely show if you're on the lighter end of the color palette. No way around it really. Btw, I have decorative polymer chips in the coating. |

I did grey base color with black and white chips. If you work on anything in your garage, I highly recommend NOT doing the chips. It makes it very difficult to find nuts, screws, etc if you drop them. Get a solid color

For those doing a pro contractor, was your floor really nice to begin with? Mine is older, with some spalling and 1-2cm divots, and any contractors I call want to basically re-floor the garage (I could buy a used Miata for what they want for that). Considering the tile options.

That is some seriously solid advice! I never thought of that. You're right, that would make it a real pain, especially for someone like me who spends at least 50% of the time I work on something, looking for that fastener I dropped.

Yep! Just had ours done after construction and before we moved in. I am sooooo happy with the results:
Now don't ask me exactly what he used. I know it's an epoxy and I selected the colors beforehand.

I do strongly suggest you have the epoxy brought up on the sides for a more uniform look and protection like in my pic above. My installer says that some customers simply want just the floor.

I read up about a lot of guys who've gone the DIY route to decide to just pay a pro to get the job done right the first time around. There are so many stories of guys who've invested so much time and money only for the results to be sub-par if you don't prep the surface properly. A lot of jobs can look good initially, but start wearing away as it ages.
I ended up going with Premier Garage. They have a 20 year warranty! It was around $5/sq ft about 1.5 years ago. I also live in the SF Bay Area, so the cost of everything is more. I'm super happy with the results. My floor looks like new still. Oil spills wipe right up. Dirt doesn't stick. I usually just vacuum the floor using a floor attachment w/ my shop vac. http://www.premiergarage.com/garage-floors.html

You guys are so weird and I don't know what happened to you to have the lives you have, but if any of you go in yo life coaching, I'll sign up for sure.
I'm encountering a ton of pressure to buy a house. One of the sales pitches included the words it has a garage in it and I blew up bigly. Then they tried to tell me it has plenty of yard for me to build a garage on, and more parts of my mental health eroded. I don't know where you guys keep all your stuff or if you were smart enough not to become a fucking hamster like I but I envy you all so much. I hate threads like this because I'll never be one of you. You talk about floor coating, I have stolen the garages of others too to store my stuff. I bet you can actually drive a car in to those spaces without a week of hard work. But anyway, txstyle has the best idea on how to do the coating and one day I'll be one of you even for a day or an hour.

I think the Racedeck or Swisstrax are for those guys who want the "GuyGarage" I'm in my garage all the time working on my car and truck and just having that design makes you feel like your either in a race shop or some kind of performance shop. I already have the grey epoxy flooring with the flakes and really looks better if it was just plain concrete. With some nice work benches and cabinets the garage just looks that much better. Im not sure your reason why you don't like yours as it looks quite nice . LOL Lups i plan on not using my garage as a storage
