BMW is patenting champagne glasses that fill from the bottom
Technology could wind up in high-end 7 Series or Rolls-Royce cars
The attached photo shows the application in a Rolls Royce.... BMW is patenting a champagne flute that fills up from the bottom to make it easier for back-seat passengers to top up their glasses while on the road. The patent shows a design that works by placing the flute in a cupholder, opening a valve in the glass’ bottom, and one in the cupholder, to allow champagne to flow from a reservoir in the car, drawings shared by AutoGuide reveal. Pressing down on the glass opens the spring-activated valves, which are closed simply by lifting it back up out of the cupholder. The patent mentions two reservoirs in the car, possibly so that passengers could choose between the two which beverage they refill their flute with. BMW has not said where the technology would end up or when, but if we had to guess, we’d say high-end trims of the 7 Series or some Rolls-Royce models, perhaps not too long from now. |

And here I was thinking there was going to be a joke.
Good one BMW, keep up the good work. Who needs things like a Z4 M or a manual transmission in a M5, when you can have champagne glasses that fill from the cupholder. |

So let me get this straight. A vehicle will have a beverage reservoir that would fill champagne flutes/scotch glasses/vodka shots etc. Interesting

I find it ironic that they're patenting a new fluid injection system when the last one (on the M4 GTS) still doesn't work right

Btw how are they going to safely store the champagne in a reservoir located in a car that could be parked all day in 100 degree heat? That stuff will taste like shoe polish
