My roommate does medical equipment sales. I dont think they pay him much (at least for now), he works long hours, and he doesn't get any benefits.

I hope not all medical sales jobs are like this...at least in regards to the benefits portion

I posted it in the M3 forum first.. thats why I said that. they moved it for me because I am a noob and have no idea what I am doing.

As for the med sales... I have reached the top of my industry and all top sales mentors I know are telling me to go to Med equipment sales next.. it has the biggest income potential. Any advice would be great.

gotcha...

good luck breaking into the industry...probably your best bet is to cozy up to a head-hunter...the industry likes sales experience but often is not crazy about pharma sales...

What have you sold before?
Awards?
Willing to learn?
Are there any metropolitan areas near you?

I USE medical equipment. Any fast-talking salesman can sell the stuff.

Not necessarily. They are telling you to go into medical DEVICES, not medical equipment. Devices are things like Knee, Hip or Disk replacements. For this type of job you need to be comfortable working on cadavers since that is what you will be doing most of the time to train doctors. You will also be in the operating room with the doctors during their first couple of installations of the devices. This is a VERY specialized form of sales and extremetly difficult to break into. You must understand the mechanics of what you are selling which requires a deep understanding of human anatomy.

If you want similar or more money look to high tech sales in both software and hardware. For this career track you will generally start at a value added reseller. From their you can move to manufacturers. The most money is in software (Oracle, SAP, etc.) followed by specialized hardware such as Storage (EMC or NetApp) and Networking (Cisco, Brocade).
