What do you wear on your feet in the house?
I have this thing against wearing shoes that I have been wearing outside into my house. When I come into the house, my shoes come off and I've been changing into slippers. But I go through slippers/mocs like crazy. I need better cushioning and arch support than most slippers offer and I hate lined slippers in the warmer months. I just bought a pair of Croc's slipon loafers, thinking they'd be a good compromise, but they're awful. They may work as casual shoes with socks, but they suck in bare feet.
So I ask, what do you wear on your feet in your house?

I too leave my shoes at the door but either socks or bare feet after that. In the winter I will wear slippers. This doesn't help answer your question
I cringe when people walk in my house with shoes on. |

Never understood why people are so afraid to wear shoes in the house, imo the floor is the fucking floor I'm not rolling around down there. Plus we have hard wood everywhere so its cleaned weekly when cleaners come.
Growing up with nothing but carpet and a 'no shoes in the house' policy will do this to someone (that is not give a shit and sweating the small stuff). So to answer thread question: I wear whatever shoes I decided to put on that morning in my house. Edit: we have 3 young kids and 2 labs so its also pointless even if I wanted to try and be "clean" lol Last edited by BimmerDimmer6; 05-16-2020 at 11:46 PM.. |

Memory foam slippers I got as a gift from Brookstone.
If you're Asian, all shoes stay by the front door lol.

Get some Ugg slippers. Just search Amazon and get the most affordable pair. They're all the same anyway (don't care what they look like, they're strictly indoor slippers) and they last about a year. They're super comfortable and cozy. Outdoor shoes do not make it into the house. We have a dedicated space in the garage for outdoor shoes.

Our dog passed away a year ago. He was a border collie lab mix so I was used to dirt & hair. I just vacuumed and swept a lot. We had carpet in the bedrooms in our other house & he's the reason we went to solid surface floors all over when we moved. |

I used to go barefoot or socks only until I bought a house with tile floor and my feet started to hurt. So I started wearing slippers but never found them that great. I switched to these Skechers a couple of years ago for around the house and taking the dogs out.
Skechers Men's Equalizer Persistent Slip-On Sneaker https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L1UPB9I..._8NuWEbR3PZ8JA Edit: just realized their price has gone up about 50% since my first order.

I wear blisters in the house, and am going to have a hard time going back to work when I have to put socks on again.
I have a pair of fuzzy slippers, and tried to train our OCD psycho dog to bring them to me when I walk in the door. Needless to say, they were shredded before I ever put them on my feet and are now in the dog's toy box.....

As an aside, this house had white carpet everywhere when we moved in. That didn't last long with the cats. Now we have almost all Pergo except for my office and the bedroom. Bare feet on Pergo doesn't work for me, though.

I can't do the Asian shoes off in the house thing. Honestly I don't think I know anyone who does that. Maybe it's a regional thing. We have tile and laminate throughout the house. It gets vacuumed all the time and mopped at least once a week. I also come in and out all day so unless I plan to wear slipons from now on, my shoes are staying on.
Plus we have 2 dogs that run around in the backyard all day so whatever we don't bring in by taking our shoes off, they will. At the end of the day when I don't plan to go anywhere anymore I just wear my socks. I also have some rubber slippers I use if I need to go outside for some reason at night. |

I know it's customary in Asia to take shoes off, but I wouldn't necessarily label that custom an "Asian thing." I grew up in a household that was most definitely not Asian influenced, yet we mostly had to take off our shoes when we came in except for the times we were wearing dress shoes, like for church or something.
Wifey does barefoot a lot. Like right now, as a matter of fact. My feet just can't handle that. They be killing me after a half hour without some sort of arch support.
