Fitted sheet help

I just ordered a queen Stearns & Foster Cassatt 16” eurotop mattress and need some suggestions for a fitted sheet. I currently have a cotton one that I like but it barely fits the 14” or 15” pillow top and it eventually rides up the sides, which is fine cuz it takes a week and is a reminder to wash it every two weeks.

From what I’ve read, I’m going with either linen or cotton as I need it to be breathable and cool since I’m in Phoenix. Problem is I’m having a hard time finding anything that has deep enough pockets to fit a 16” mattress so I might have to go with a giant sheet in place of a fitted one. I’d love any suggestions on what you guys have personally used or are using right now. My three most important criteria is coolness, able to fit the bed and try to keep it $150 and under.

Thanks

I literally just put new sheets on my bed today. They are 1000 thread count wamsutta dream zone. 100% Pima cotton. Fitted sheet will fit up to a 20” mattress. I also have a thick mattress and I have sheet to spare. It’s not tight at all. The flat sheet is nice and wide too. I’m not sure if they sell the sheets individually. The sheets are somewhat heavier due to the high thread count. I got the set on sale for $250 king size.

Edit: Sorry, they were marked $250 but got 50% off because my local Bed Bath and Beyond store was closing. I just check online and they have lower thread counts that also fit 20” mattresses.

Let me know your thoughts on them after you get a night or two in.

We got some Hotel Collection sheets from Macy’s that we really like. One related suggestion on sheets, and it may seem counter intuitive, is don’t use fabric softener on them. They last a lot longer if you skip the softener and if you get good sheets, you shouldn’t need it. This is what I have been told by my wife and I think she’s right.

My wife bought some bamboo sheets which I thought was weird but they are super comfortable and breathe well so she stays cool. Fit our fat mattress fine. No idea where she found them, but I’m sure it was online.

My inner panda is always tempted to eat them, though.

Friend rec'd these years ago, for the money cant beat and fit our deep King bed perfect. (Didn't even realize they were #1 for sheets in Amazon)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'll be honest, we did name brand at $100, these are better.

Whatever sheets you end up with, also order a set of retaining clips/straps from Amazon. They have 3 little straps with a clip on each. One for each corner. Whatever bedroom gymnastics take place the fitted sheets will never pull up with them installed. Game changer.

I don’t know squat about longevity of fabrics so I’ll give a try for a few cycles

Everything I’ve read says to stay away from microfiber and stick with natural materials if I want it to breathe and help keep me cool at night.

I actually like that the fitted starts to rise up after a week. It’s a useful reminder to wash them soon.

I sleep hot, never had issues with these. Our $200 "natural" ones that were supposed to be cool, are currently dogs blankets

good luck

If I don’t like the others I’ll definitely try it, nothing to lose here.

We recently bought a set of Target's Casaluna brand of linen sheets and absolutely love them. They are a little rougher than our cotton sheets, but the coolness is far superior to any thing I've ever used. They are just a bit over your price range, but meet all your other criteria. I would 100% recommend these, we are considering a second set.

And I avoid any sheets that aren't cotton or linen. I don't care what kind of coolness claim they make, nothing is as good as natural fibers.

Thanks, I’ll add them to the list. Ive been reading about bamboo and I might give them a try. I’ve had cotton pretty much all my life and while they’ve been good, won’t hurt to try something new.

Lands End sheets will meet your criteria. Very high quality. Make sure to use a coupon. They are usually 30-40% off.

Two nights with the new sheets and I really like them so far. I like the feel and weight of them. My previous set was less thread count - maybe 600 if I remember correctly. My bedroom needs to be cold at night. I'm an old lady, so my internal thermostat is a bit off. Hot, cold, hot, cold. So my norm is constant kicking off the sheet and blanket only to pull it back on moments later. This is an all night thing. I haven't kicked them off for two nights in a row and considering I also put a new comforter on the bed which is heavier than the quilt I previously had on, it makes no sense. But I do like them.

Thanks, I’ll keep these in mind. I’ve been reading more about bamboo and I’m going to give them a try just to see how they compare to cotton.

Have had the JCPenney set for 2 years, and it's been really good. Wearing well, good comfort, the fitted sheet has deep corners or pockets or whatever it is and never comes loose. $60. Got the original recommendation from a New York Times review article.

We have been using Bamboo sets for three or four years now and are really happy with them.
