i think it's on t-mobile which renders it useless unless you're a fan of poor coverage. but the phone itself is pretty neat.

Well I have t-mobile so I am kind of stuck....

I just purchased the phone today, but I thought I would get everyone's opinion on it.

it's a cool phone, merging touchscreen with a full standard keyboard is a good idea. i can't touchscreen keyboards. the only thing about the G1 is it does everything that my blackberry curve can do so it's kinda defunct. i'm sure in the future they'll roll out more programs that will set it apart. i'm waiting on my at&t blackberry bold

Yeah, according to some of the articles there is going to be additional features coming out and you just need to change the firmware on it.

I love the new blackberry bold, but once again t-mobile sucks and doesn't have many good phones at all.

the bold will hit t-mo eventually...but like most phones, at&t hogs the market for a few months.

where do you guys live at? I been using t mobile for 4 years. No complaint so far. Their service did suck 2 years ago but ever since tmobile started sharing towers with ATT the service was awesome. I was planning to transfer over to iphone until I saw the G1.

i'm in dallas and at&t must not share towers around here. most everyone i know here with t-mo complain non-stop about service holes, including my house. one of my good friends and my maid both have t-mo and neither get any signal here...and i live smack dab in the middle of a heavily populated area. they'll have either 1 bar or no service at all while my at&t phone will have full signal.

I live in Vegas ... T-Mobile Rocks here! ... also most major cities I go to it rocks as well. On top of the that T-Mobile hands down has the best customer service.

I got the G1 yesterday and love it .... finally a 3G phone!!! yayyyyyyy!

I switched over from my blackberry curve and like it better so far. It took me about 3 hours to work through all the features and tinker with all the settings. Super easy to use, runs rock solid, works flawlessly with my gmail account and backs up all my contacts on there as well, camera is good minus the fact its missing a flash, GPS rocks, and the threaded txt messaging is awesome. The phone its self is really clear and works awesome. Only complaints are 1) no flash like I said before, 2) No exchange server - but im sure an app will be out soon, 3)unlike my blackberry when someone calls you from a number NOT stored in your phone you cant go to the call log and select it and add it to your address book ... besides those three things I have no complaints.

Here in the Bay Area, I have reception everywhere. Including Northern California and Southern California. I guess T-mobile is just good in the West coast? The good thing about tmobile is the cheap plan compared to verizon/att

T-Mo will not get the Bold. They will probably get the new curve called Javelin.

I like it, it has everything I like about my iPhone and doesn't have what I don't like (touch keyboard).

I don't know much about this new phone except finaly tmobile comes out with a G3 (I mean 3G) phone. I like to see the phone in person. There is a review on this phone that indicates that the BT is not that good.

BTW, I have tmobile and I hardly ever had issues with them.

I have read a ton of bad reviews on this phone but they are complaining about some of the dumbest shit ever. A lot of their complaints can be fixed if they just adjusted the settings. I have had it for a few days now and absolutely love it.

some reviews also indicate that the phone does not feel natural in your hand. They do not go into detail what that mean but I think how it feels in your hand is subjective.

Have you sink the BT with your car and is the call sounds good with car BT? How is the battery holding up with BT turned on all the time?

It feels way more natural then my blackberry did since its slightly longer and thinner. People bitch about how it curves up at the end by where the buttons are but it makes it more ergonomic to fit your face so its not laying on your cheek.

I havnt tried to sync it with the car yet as my car is on jack stands till next week in prep for SEMA. Once I do ill be happy to report back.
