$6k off on 2018 certified Porsche Panamera a good deal?

Hi all,

As I've posted on another thread about my stolen S7 from a dealer, I finally got a call from them and they can offer me $6k off on 2018 certified panamera 4.
I was wishing for more but consider it's a Porsche, perhaps I'm pushing it too much. How much off can you typically get on a certified Porsche?

$6k off what price? $200k?

10% off of window sticker price for each year is one rule of thumb. Heavily optioned cars carry stronger prices. So a rough ballpark would be a 2018 should be around 30% off sticker price, then you need to adjust for desirability: color, miles, options, condition, etc.

It sounds like a base model, possibly a dealer service loaner. How many miles, what color, what is the window sticker price and what option content? If you can post the window sticker that would help.

There are the stories ( I don’t recall if a team manager told me this ) of buyers of the limited cars RSR for personal track use or even on ( I think gt3 rs ) a few years back that to complete the purchase u had to also purchase a Panamera.
I think I heard dealerships will cover the gas tax on them, just all kinds of discounts to move them.

I like the panamera, but even on a lower priced version 6K doesn’t read like that unusual a discount.

But I’m just guessing.

Which Panamera variant and whats the sticker price? I remember before Covid you could easily get huge discounts on the Panny (especially Turbo and Sport Turismo variants) because they would sit on lots forever, although I guess now in the current market that's changed.

It's a 2018, so it's used, it's not going to be 200K.

I need more details. Are you saying they are giving $6k for your S7 that was stolen? Or you have been made whole and in addition they are offering you $6k off the purchase so you to recoup what you were given?

KBB lists the car at that spec and mileage between $66 and $72k if it's i excellent condition. It appears they're just giving you the car at the bottom of its retail value. I wouldn't consider that much of a deal from a financial perspective. Maybe if they were closer to $60 even it might be more enticing given it was their fkup that started the whole kerfuffle.

Insurance is probably handling the S7, but in the meantime he wants a car?

So dealer is buying my car back at market price and giving me $6k off on Porsche. As long as deal is good enough, I am ready to move on and forget the past

Agree with erickonphoenix it's offered to you at the bottom of the normal retail range. It's not a screaming deal. But it doesn't seem like the dealer is trying to fleece you.

I personally wouldn’t buy a used car from the same dealer in which my old car was stolen from.

Wouldn’t buy a new car from the dealer that lost my old car.

Thanks I thought that was the case. As others in the know have said not a great deal but I can understand wanting to move on. As such, I might take the deal but not sure what the certified warranty includes so looking for some thing a bit more such as service for the life of the certified warranty.

If it's a good deal to YOU, then it's a good deal. You don't currently have a vehicle, and the Porsche dealership has a Panamera ready to go. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I agree. The "discount" is a joke for a company that lost your car. If this is the best they can do, sue the bastards for the loss of your car and shop elsewhere.

The dealer buying your car at market price is expected, nothing special. Nobody pays list price for a used car so the "$6K off" that you keep repeating is irrelevant. What's relevant is their offer price which is $68K which, as stated above is within the KBB range for that car, so, again, nothing special. In fact, you're helping the dealer by buying it because it costs them money each day it sits on the lot.

This isn't about forgetting the past because trying to get a good deal is not about the past, it's about the present. Judging by your tone, it sounds more like you can't be bothered dealing with this and just want to get it over with. If that's the case, then at least make a counteroffer and at least try and negotiate another few thousand dollars off. At least you have that small leverage of guilt from the dealer since they did lose your car that you had loved so much!

Panamera tend to depreciate faster than other Porsche models. However, if the car is in like new condition, given covid pricing conditions, that seems like a decent price. Also don’t forget that the Porsche CPO warranty tacks on two years and unlimited miles which is a lot of peace of mind. Hopefully you have about a year of factory warranty to add to it. Panamera is a wonderful car that you will love.
