Jump Starter Recommendations
tagged to my previous threads, but just wanna keep this separately
for the 230 I can't remember who recommended me Noco's But any recommendations for a good reliable booster. Price isn't an issue. I'm looking at 4, 3 NOCO's 1 generic Motomaster NOCO GB150 Boost Pro Jump Starter Power Bank - $489 NOCO Genius GB70 BoostHD Jump Starter and Power Bank, 2000 Amp $319 NOCO Genius GB40 Boost+ Jump Starter and Power Bank, 1000 Amp $169 MotoMaster Eliminator PowerBox® 600 $129 I think the Noco's have an override, for my 230 is there really a difference between the 169 & 489 job ? Is it better to have (at least at home) those wheeled AC powered units ? Car failure has always been overnight, not once I get the car going. I think the noco pro is used by the CAA https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/n...-0112057p.html https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/n...-0111908p.html https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/n...-0111907p.html https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...-0112002p.html txs |

We use (and sell) the Antigravity XP-10-HD Micro-Start (Heavy Duty) and its never let us down, even jumping a few tow rigs.

Another happy antigravity user.
The XP10-HD has never missed and we have also used it for charging phones during power outages. Awesome piece. I have 4 units one in each car. Also have the power supply. I also have AAA but I hate to wait. |

So it really depends on how much "override" you need, how many jump starts you want from a single charge and how severe the operating conditions expected are: the colder, the more override is needed. Just for example, my battery appears to deliver 800 Amps, 1.6-liter gas engine and I bought NOCO GB40 for frosty winter (say, -20 Celsius) peace of mind, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't advise. ![]() Last edited by No one; 10-23-2021 at 02:34 AM.. I have the noco gb150, bought it when it used to be rated for 4000a, now they say 3000a, you will never either of these out of it. That being said it started a 6.7 Cummins with no battery's at -30f and still had 75% left

You’ll be fine with a cheap NOCO. I have a GB40 that starts my big Land Cruiser. Will be more than enough for the 2 series.

one other question before I leave, hoping somone will see it
having a battery load test just quickly 1> ONLY on the jump points 2> ON THE - battery disconnected on the battery 3> ON THE - battery in-situ in car, not disconnected Google is useless |

so here's what happened, I'm loosing track of threads, bullet point it
1> car was on charge all night, didnt get to full charge, enough to start and go 2> drove 50km to my car guy, stopped car, then restarted to park it up 3> battery test with an OBD2 tester 4> started car, voltage on running was ok 5> connected load test across jump terminal points 6> loaded for 10 seconds, from what he said it was good and holding, (i forgot the figure- think he said 12 volts) 7> stopped car, move outside stopped again, restarted car went home 8> got lost getting home also traffic so I did a whole detour maybe about 80-90 km;s) mainly highway, got to car store to pup a NOCO 9> stopped car no discharge warning 10> [b]came out 10 minutes later car wouldnt start[\b] 11> kept pressing pressing, 2, then 3rd time started, went home 12> parked up, stopped started car, 2 or 3 times 13> checked battery- 9 volts 14> put it on a charger also 1> put the car bak to full spec, put back original puddle lights, even put back the back head rests, the dashcam cabling, had no earth at the fuse end, so they have earthed it closer to the front of the car, they also put a joint in it, to extend the cable. wondering wether the earth is tapped onto something and that's an issue, but couldnt trace the cable from the windscreen, job for another day, maybe tommorow. I got the Noco GB70, $319 (canadian tire) any ideas not a drop of water in sight, I checked the drains as best I can on the soft top. I'm reading as well, that maybe though all looks good the battery isn't holding a charge or there's some issue. Ista was showing that battery is fine and no closed circuits (I think BMW speak for short's or current draw) ![]() |
