What to get now???

My E92 335i lease is over in 5 months...

What next???

I need a larger car, either a small SUV or a Large Crossover. Willing to pay between $500 and $800 per month on a lease, no money down.

Suggestions?

Does it have to be a BMW? If so I would go for an X5. If not I would go for an Acura MDX ( I think it's like $450 a month). I'm in the same boat and have been looking at my options so those are the two that I would go for.

The X5 is certainly a consideration.

What do you like about the MDX?

MDX will w/o a doubt be cheaper. Drive them both and see which you like better. What about X6?

According to the most credible comparative reviews, the Mazda CX-9 is the best midsize SUV, balancing features, performance and price. The CX-9 scores points for its sporty handling and quickness on the highway -- a… common theme in reviews is that it's just plain fun to drive. The Mazda CX-9 has a standard third row of seats, and experts say that while access is good, kids will be more comfortable than teens and adults. Reviewers mainly praise the CX-9's car-like handling, overall refinement and fun factor. One reviewer goes as far as to call it "sexy." The all-wheel-drive CX-9 gets about 15 mpg/city, 21 mpg/highway, according to the EPA.

Best sporty midsize SUV.
PROS:
Sporty looks and performance
Roomy, comfortable cabin
Easy access to third-row seat
Fun to drive

CONS:
Large rear doors
Stiff ride
Low towing capacity
Cramped third-row seat

I like the look- definitely an improvement from the previous gen. I checked one out when it was first released and was very impressed with it: comfortable, nice features (SH-AWD ), looks great and very nicely priced.

Honestly, like most Japanese cars, the MDX offers the most value so I might go with that one. The X5 is very nice but to get one that's nicely equipped, I would be looking at about $700-800 a month (don't want to pay that much on a lease). Other than that both the X5 and the MDX are great vehicles. Both have great crash test ratings so that's a plus since you guys are expecting a new member to the family (although German cars are usually stiffer).

I've also considered the Mazda CX-9 but like the look of the MDX and X5 much better.

The MDX does look better than the Mazda.

What are leases like on M5s now? Maybe OP could get a good deal on a leftover '08 M5 or maybe '08 M3 sedan?

I love the MDX as well. It's definitely my favorite SUV on the market. Drives amazingly well, it's amazingly spacious and comfortable (way moreso than the X5 seems to be), the tech is fantastic, and the storage space is as good as it gets.

Did you do a 1 year lease on your E92? Sig says you got it in June '07.

What about a 535xi wagon?
Gives you a bit more room then the 3er wagon, but it's still sportier then an SUV.

My wife's car is an MDX. They are really nice - what everyone said is true. They drive amazingly well, there's tons of room, etc. I'll also add that the fuel economy has been way better than I ever expected. I routinely get 24 mpg ave on the highway, which is pretty astonishing for a 7-passenger SUV.

My vote is for a X5 d Blutec diesel, room for what you want, decent fuel economy, nice power and upgradeable all in one package.
