Sweet! Thanks for those. I'm very into EDM, usually I load up YouTube and load up a long mix or two. Right now it's Kream and Nora En Pure if I'm looking for some deep house for some background music while I work. Prydz is my all time favorite but he's been a bit quiet as of late. |

I've been a fan of edm since the mid 90's, so this isn't a new hobby for me - definitely check out hour 2 & 3 of the joris voorn set first. The Satin Jackets sets are great for the summer.
EDM is just most efficient umbrella term for a thread name. Deep House, Melodic Techno is more accurate. As for youtube - def sub to this channel if you don't already - https://youtube.com/c/Cercle Hurricane is great for gym - https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/rGCLoYq197bUozzz5 |

I used to love EDM and even attended Ultra many years ago but I think the music has massively fallen off a cliff. It's very repetitive, has a far worse crowd now and I feel we've reached its peak popularity.

I was always a fan of Deadmau5, Kaskade, Armin, Tiesto, Above and Beyond etc... but I suppose all of these guys are now considered old school.

Takes a lot more digging around these days to find the sets that are worth your time. And yes it peaked in the early 2000's but I don't quantify what is good based off what is popular — Particularly when it comes to music.

I love EDM especially progressive trance.
My all time favorite playlist is Taking You Higher Part III I'm tempted to do 150mph+ listening to this but I try to control myself |

I invested in Ableton and some other gear a few years ago, so I mess with production in my spare time just as a musical outlet. I'm a punk rock guitar guy by nature, but I'm 46 and don't quite have the angst that I used to. |

The oakenfold global Underground mix is one of my favs of his. So good. I stopped following some of the more contemporary stuff, but I do still avidly consume the anjunadeep (and anjunabeats) releases. The latest anjunadeep is quite good. |

Just a disclaimer: If I post a link on here it's only after having played it several times and really loving it. I won't populate this thread with anything but sets that I think are worth passing along to others to enjoy.
I reckon some of you were likely at some of the events I was at... Sasha & Digweed Delta Heavy - Coachella, and Delta Heavy The Mayan I was at. Both fun nights. As pointed out Oakenfold - Shadow Lounge Miami is perfection. Imo nobody has come as close to perfection as Oakenfold. If you like that set you will like these as well: https://soundcloud.com/david_wainwri...ion-17-10-2015 https://soundcloud.com/rave_on/paul-...und-mix-2-1996 https://soundcloud.com/pauloakenfold...ay-2017-hour-3 https://soundcloud.com/pauloakenfold...ay-2017-hour-2 https://soundcloud.com/pauloakenfold...ay-2017-hour-1 https://soundcloud.com/rave_on/paul-...ix-22-26091999 https://soundcloud.com/pauloakenfold...ds-august-2014 Quote:
https://soundcloud.com/anjunadeep/th...ep-edition-385 https://soundcloud.com/anjunadeep/th...ep-edition-387 https://soundcloud.com/anjunadeep/th...ep-edition-346 We had tickets to a bunch of the Anjunadeep roof top events for WMC before Covid forced them all to cancel. It was definitely a harsh intro to the pandemic. Last edited by floridaorange; 06-14-2022 at 04:37 PM.. |

Trance at its zenith imo. Aside from the cheesy video, the cd is actually pretty iconic in its own right, imo. Another "classic" is Robert Miles - Dreamland (RIP)
