I'm Baaacck, miss me? lol
I got into today at 4:30pm. The trip started out bad, but it ended good. My dad forgot his ID here in san diego, and we barely made our flight. My brother had to wake up, go to my house, pick it up, and bring it to the airport, with 1 min to spare. Then, when we arrived in NY, our damn taxi driver got lost and we had to pay $140 by the time he found it! And my dad was bitching the entire time, so i was extremely irritated and wanted to come home already.
Thursday we went to visit the school. Its beautiful! I love it, the campus looks like an entire garden. And they have a bus that takes students to and from the train station (which is 5 mins away) and it runs 24 hrs. Plus they have a bridge that connects from the dorms to the campus (and its covered). The train ride into Penn station is 30mins, which is nice, cause im still outside the city to not be distracted, but close enough to go on the weekends..etc. Afterwards we went into times square and had lunch. MY dad was amazed at all the people. Then we walked to rockefeller, and went up on top of the building (amazing view), and we toured around NBC. Friday my dad and i went to ellis island and the statue of liberty. It was a long day, so after we had dinner and then came back to the hotel. Saturday we went to china town and little italy. This was my fav day of all. We got all our souvieners there and my dad was in awe of all the shops and vendors. Then we ate lunch at Pellegrino's (haha nice huh), and we met another family with the last named pellegrino. They were from FL, they were so nice, we took pics together and they ended up buying our lunch ($$ place). Then my dad and i walked to a cafe and had dessert. Turns out the owner of the place was there, and he is from sicily. So i began talking with him for over an hour. He was great, he told me to come back anytime, and he said that he thought i was very mature and cant wait to see me again. (He had NUMEROUS famous celebrties on his wall). He is also good friends with many of the cast members in the sopranos. Domenic Chianese (Uncle Jr.) is his good friend. (HOOK UP!) Then we went shoppin at some more stands, and i became friends with a woman who owns one of them. She has been there for years and knows all the locals. She introduced me to the man who does PR for the Yankees! Then i saw Steven Schirripa (He plays Bobby Bacala, Tony soprano's brother in law). He took a pic with me, and interviewed me for his tv show. ha ha. Crazy.. I LOVE the sopranos Anyway, thats the jist of my trip. It was cool, ill post pics

hahhaah... no way, it's Bobby Bacala, NICE!
Also, great pics of campus, hope you enjoy your time there, but take this from someone that also did undergrad on the East Coast, the beauty is completely deceptive. I always tell people it's gorgeous when people visit during the beginning and end of the school year (everything is so colorful, the weather is nice, all the trees and plants are in full bloom), but during school year, it's grey and cold. Don't say you haven't been warned. Thanks for the pics! |

wow meeting celebs is always icing on the cake. I was in NYC 3 months ago, its got a really good 'vibe.' Unlike Houston...
Did you find your family name at Ellis Island?? I looked for mine, but I knew damn well my parents came on a plane, not a boat... lol... |

Well, glad you had fun. My dad came here in the 60's. my mom in the early 70's. BTW, you look like a prettier version of Sheryl Crow from the pictures at least (hope you don't mind being compared to her).

NYC is a lot like London in that it is VERY cosmopolitan, very densely packed, very international, and there is always something going around. You can feel the energy and you know that some big deals are going down, big people are around, etc... you feel more important just by being there.
never get that kind of feeling in Houston. So if you like NYC, you should also check out london someday if you havne't. |
