23 Seconds of the Mexican Drug War
Not sure how many people saw this. The Bentley drive-by made me think of it. Warning, though, its pretty graphic. These unarmed people just get raged on.

Yeah that was the wife of the off-duty police chief whom the hit was intended for. You can also see the first guy go sliding into the counter, he was one of the hitmen. He got shot by the guy coming in behind him on accident. Too bad he was still moiving when they dragged him out. |

I have been to Mexico on several occasions, and I will be there again in a week and a half. My experience was pretty much the opposite of yours: locals were very friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing... what's not to like? |

I've heard both sides, being only what like 10-15 miles from the border with Tijuana. Some good times, others not so much. A sailor stationed at an NAS here apparently went down with his family last year. They were kidnapped. And that's all that is really known.

I think that if you venture into the parts of Mexico that are not so riddled with tourists you might escape some of the shittyness and condescendery that you have been encountering. (going just 15 miles into Mexico does not represent the country as a whole)

That is horrible, I didn't read the whole article, but I'm guessing it was a planned assassination of the cop (who unfortunately happened to be with his wife at the time) .

angle three was the worst. you see that man in white, next to the door, right when men get in, clips of ak47 ammunition was shot at him in very close range...let alone when they exit the man shoots him w/ his pistol on the chest.

I agreed. I was just wondering how the crime rate is lately due to the influx of new businesses in mexico with the decline of the US economy. Many ppl go across the border to buy cheap medications (can't afford it in US) during this time and businesses in mexico are picking up dramatically for many towns closer to the border.

Just horrible. I can't believe someone would have the mindset to do this. Innocent people, man...and then to shoot a woman while she is down...just sick. RIP.

Things are worse in 2008 as indicated by this statement: MEXICO UNDER SIEGE Death toll in Mexico's drug war surges Attorney General Eduardo Medina Mora says 5,376 people have been killed so far in 2008, more than twice the toll for the first 11 months of 2007. link to the 2008 reports on violence in mexico: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...,1654684.story This is basically murder for hire and the drug lords will do what it takes against those who stand in their way of gaining more power.
