Lightbulb I made a BMW Maintenance Tracker Template on Google Sheets

Hi all,
I couldn't find a good solution to tracking maintenance history and intervals, so I made one! This Google doc allows you to log your service history, set standard maintenance intervals, and decode your vin.

Maybe this will be useful to someone else also, so I figured I'd share it here.

Here is the link, don't forget to read the instructions to save your own copy!

Buy OP a gallon of fuel or electrical equivalent, whichever is higher.

Very cool, but where did the service intervals come from? I typically go by Mike Miller's recommendations when it comes to service.

I'd like to understand your tracker better! I love it!

Hello, I also live in Austin and take my vehicle to Terry Sayther. I am trying to use your tracker and have some questions about it.

Like, for instance, I tried putting in my brake pad repairs into the log but I did the front and rear brake pads separately, one in September and one in January. And I don't understand how to separate them out.

Help me, O Excel Wizard. I feel I have much to learn from you - I also want to create a house version of this and would pay you to help me.

You should be able to add another maintenance item in the yellow highlighted section on "Intervals" tab (IE Rear Brake Pads) and change the "Brake Pads" item to "Front Brake Pads". Then copy and paste the formatting to get colors on the "Summary" Tab

These are a combination of recommendations I have seen and practiced across a few different cars. They are pretty aggressive, so feel free to adjust as you see fit.

Nicely done!

I added a new type (Suspension) on the Intervals sheet, and while the Summary sheet did pick it up, it has a problem with it not having any regular intervals. Quick fix or something I should dive into myself? I'm not un-skilled with coding spreadsheets, but ... let's just say it's been a while

Yeah, that's one limitation of the spreadsheet -- you need to put a milage/time interval or it'll show errors. You can throw on an =iferror([existingformula],"") and it'll prevent the errors from being displayed if that helps, or you can hide those rows, or you can put in 100k/99y for the intervals, whatever works best for you. I'll probably build this out more and make it a bit more intuitive, but everything on excel is just a little bit harder

I can work with that And coding spreadsheets isn't just "a bit" harder. It's a god awful PITA (IMO, of course).

My VIN doesn't fully resolve all the information but this is pretty cool.
