New Saturn Sky

OK OK I know it's not as good in every way as our beloved BMW's, but I just finished working a Saturn guerrilla marketing campaign in Miami and spent a few days with 4 of them.
I have to say that I kinda like the looks of this new Saturn.
Not that I'm going to go buy one, BUT it was very fun to drive, being a 5 speed MT.
It has 175 hp, but doesn't weigh much = fun driving.
base price $22,500 or so.
Not bad for an American car maker IMO

Leave it to GM to cheap out on the exhaust and make an interesting design look cheap

There's to be a 260hp turbo out this fall I'm told.
It will be real fun with the turbo in it.
Yes the exhaust doesn't look great, but surprisingly it does sound real nice. Not like a 4 cylinder
Could be an affordable track car as a turbo
The interior materials are kinda cheap looking/feeling, but hey it's a $22,000 car and the average person doesn't notice anyway.

Just about every car forum I visit has said similar comments. The vast majority love the car but are a bit reserved because of it being a saturn.

Personally I LOVE the car. I would go so far to say I like it just by looks alone more than almost every 2 seat roadster up to $60K. The redline version coming out this fall should help as well. Now if the car just wasn't so darn impractical with 0 trunk room with the top down, no auto roof, and no rear seat at all I might think about it. Definetely a good second fun car if you already own a 4 door.

When the Red Line comes out with its turbo engine the Sky will be very interesting!

I believe they have nothing in common. The Sky draws styling influence from a Vauxhall VX Concept study. The Sky is a FR with running fear using the Ecotec I-4. The VX220 though is based on the Lotus Elise (hence mid-ship) but offers the turbo engine exclusively.

I do like the styling of the Sky better than the Solistice. They are rebadging the Sky for Europe as the Opel GT.

Chitown, is the interior quality up to par?

it's not actually light,

weight about 3000 lbs, the same ballpark as a Boxster or Z4 but with much less power

the miata weighs about 500 lighter than the sky/solstice
