Dodge resurrects Challenger SRT Demon
Dodge is resurrecting its controversial muscle car model, the Challenger SRT Demon, with a final special edition of the vehicle before production ends on the brand’s current V8 engine cars later this year.
Dodge says the new car will deliver 1,025 total horsepower, 945 foot-pounds of torque and reach 60 mph from a rolling start in 1.66 seconds. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will start at $96,666 but can top $120,000 with fees, options and accessories, according to Dodge. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/03/20/dodg...surrected.html |

So, with over 800hp, the car could barely get out of its own way, with all of the tire spinning, now, they add 200 more HP?

From what I understand the Demon and Redeye (and super stock) are functionally pretty different engines from the base Hellcat and have a much higher potential for power.

It might have less range than a Model S and 3P.

Tires, track prep (it's a track car), pressure, skill. Trust me, it'll put the power down if you have the brains to go with the purchase price.

It’s too bad they didn’t make these cars have the option of all wheel drive. It would be a totally different animal.

Question for everyone,is this the first high performance production car to be sold specifically to run on E85 or have an OEM E85 map? Or does the ECU just adjust timing/etc automatically for alcohol? I'm not very well versed when it comes to E85

Sorry guys, I’m in the wrong thread.
I thought this was the “popular cars you would never ever buy” thread. |

these cars are so lame. especially with how dodge advertises hero 1/4 mile times and then the 700hp hellcat can't beat a model 3 performance in the real world.
Quote:
its likely running a flexfuel setup. ecu auto adjusts timing based on whats in the tank. a pure e85 tune would not work since most 'e85' is actually e60-e70 around the country.

Seriously, what's another 200 lbs on top of 4300? Plus it would help out that traction-less 58F/42R weight distribution.

Why don't they just call it the Dodge Satan. Then, after its 9 second quarter mile the doors lock and the car sets itself on fire.

To this day no one has been able to match Dodge's published numbers on the Demon, so no need to get too excited here.
Regardless, with every parameter right where it needs to be, under ideal conditions, on a perfectly prepped track, cherry picking a glory run out of a dozen or more passes they likely made that day...it barely beats a 4-door family sedan on standard street tires which costs about the same. Cool. |
