My former car, 2007 BMW 335i
2007 BMW 335i
I had that car from 2007 to around 2014. I sold it in 2014 to a guy who attended Loyola University (Jesuit) in Louisana (he actually lives in Southern California). He moved to Texas and sold this car to someone I don't know. Eventually, it ended up in a salvage yard n in Georgia. Check out the pictures of my car, it was in excellent shape when I was selling it. It was at around 45,000 miles. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=346747 Now it was sold at the auction, at 90,000 miles. https://autoauctionspot.com/bmw/335-i/2007-WBAVB73527PA86610.html My son had a 2008 BMW 328i, he sold it to someone else. It was in good shape. About a year later, it ended up in an auction with front end crash. It seems that some idiots buy them for cheap, and they made some horrible modifications such as the wheels were painted in black. Then they drive them like stolen... well they have NO respect for these cars (or any cars). They ended up crashing into something. Anyone who paints their wheels black with rattle cans, that shows they are absolute idiot. They think that black wheels are "so cool" or perhaps "to increase horsepower" To be honest (and in my opinion) with you these black-painted wheels do not show any "lines" and "depth". Anyway, if you drive your BMW, be sure to take good care of it. Maintenance is key. Driving skills, too. Racing in a BMW against others is stupid. Take it easy and enjoy your drive!!! You don't want to see your car end up in a salvage yard.

^ I'm not a fan of black wheels myself but I fail to see what direct significance it has with 'boy racers' who drive erratically.

I had a 2007 335i as well... sold with around 65k miles I want to say to Carmax back in the day... the car was very fun, handled extremely well for a non m car at the time and I modded it with only top quality mods at the time... I ran a 12.0 1/4 mile in it on e85... the car was a jet for the time and this was just when everyone else was picking up on turbo tech... otherwise (even) before the mods, the car was basically an utter piece of shit that had just about everything go wrong one could imagine.. every other day, it was something new... its almost amazing, how much things changed with the F gen and then later with the G generation in terms of overall quality and just reliability...
I did some googling around of my vin a little while back and found similar results as you... it was totally modded out with some cheap mods etc... but that's what you expect once the car's values drop as much as they do... I personally feel 0 loss here as these cars IMHO should be off the road at this point as again, in terms of reliability they were basically utter pieces of shit... and given what's available today, they aren't memorable enough (except) the M cars to miss.

You sold the car 9 years ago, it is now 16 years old and are surprised the third owner didn't properly care for the car? You're gonna need to start keeping cars for life if this bothers you.

My condolences that you would have to see your baby left this way, treated so badly. I think the real lesson here is never ever sell a BMW. Just buy more to keep the first one company.
