Talking Alpine White rocks!! It is a very pure white!!

I know there is a photo thread for each of the colors, but I’m creating this one more as a commentary on how BMW’s Alpine White compares to other manufacturers’ whites.

I’ll just say I am really loving my Alpine White!! It’s just a very pure white and the paint has kind of a lacquer quality to it that makes it look kind of “shiny” in a way I’ve begun noticing most other manufacturers’ white paint doesn’t.

I don’t think even Audi or Mercedes whites match BMW’s, but I’m not 100% certain of that. Any thoughts about that? What I have been noticing is most of the more “pedestrian” manufacturers’ whites are a little dull by comparison and some are almost a flat white.

What have y’all noticed about other whites? What about Porsche’s whites? I’m following several Porsche pages on Instagram and I’ve become very impressed with the multitude of colors Porsche offers and how beautiful they are. They have a lot of non-metallic colors. Their color offerings really do put BMW to shame.

But, back to the whites. What are y’all’s opinions of non-BMW whites?

Also, personally, I like Alpine White better than Mineral White. It just “pops”! Most of the metallic whites have a little bit of another hue to them. I’ve noticed some with a slightly yellowish hue and some with a little bit of silverish hue.

The first five are my car. The other three are just a few other Alpine Whites I had in my photos. That 5er has the best lighting by far!

I like my Alpine White but would have preferred Mineral White.

AW is a timeless BMW color, theyve been using it for decades. Here's my AW B7:

AW looks amazing in all settings. MW looks pastey and almost hideous under direct sunlight. but an overcast day or nightime and it pops

Honestly I like both AW and MW. My F36 is AW and it was really the only color i considered (especially with the CR interior) when I was shopping. My wife has a MW F15 and I didn't think it was anything special until I saw the 2 cars next to each other on the driveway in the sun. The MW sparkles whereas the AW just looks pure. Definitely different colors when you see them together, but I honestly love both!

Never been a fan of Alpine because it looks so flat (good comparison shots: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454122).

Bought my first white car last year and it had to be Mineral White.

But color is so subjective, everyone should get what they prefer.

You'd make a great politician LOL.

I dunno, the link by the poster above isn't convincing me, side-by-side the AW looks like real white and MW looks grayish. I'd thought anything metallic would be better but not according to those pix.

Me, too. The first thing I noticed was the silvery-ness (with a tinge of grey) of it.

+2 to Alpine White.
+1 to Mineral White (my buddy got an 24' X5 in MW). Looks good too.

Here's a couple pics of my 15' 535i in AW (and one in the snow...lol)

As pictured above, when the snow hits it. It very much isn't pure white. I always thought mineral looked "whiter" and alpine had a yellow tint.

You can't look at colors individually in a vacuum, you need to check out that link I talked about w the cars side-by-side. Ironically, contrary to the poster's intention, it showed that AW is actually whiter than MW.

I love Alpine White on my 328. It seems to change color with background and time of day (I suppose all colors do that!).

Here are a couple of shots in different settings showing how different AW can look.

I think AW shows off the great lines of the F30 very nicely.

Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow.
