Digital key on non Apple, but NFC fitted smartwatch?

I know Apple watch is the only watch with UWB chip, so is the only Digital Key Plus smartwatch, Digital Key plus non requiring to tap on door handle.

NFC, on the other hand, it requires tapping the door handle. My watch (Samsung) is NFC fitted, and i can do payments with it. Will it work as Digital (non plus) Key, or only a phone will do?
