Honda Prelude Concept

https://global.honda/en/newsroom/new...231025eng.html

Quote:
Prelude Concept will take the “joy of driving” into the full-fledged electrified future

I have introduced some of the mobility products that embody Honda’s dreams, which represent the Honda of today and the future. But we know our customers are expecting one more thing from Honda, and that is sports models.

At the automobile electrification business briefing we held last year, I talked about future sports models. Today, to conclude my presentation, I would like to show you one of them – the specialty sports model.

Everyone, this is the Prelude Concept.

Honda has always been committed to creating sporty vehicles. And the word “prelude” means an “introductory or preceding performance.” This model will become the prelude for our future models which will inherit the “joy of driving” into the full-fledged electrified future and embody Honda’s unalterable sports mindset. The Prelude Concept is a specialty sports model that will offer exhilarating experience that makes you want to keep going forever and extraordinary excitement you never felt before.

In order to offer the “joy of driving” only Honda can realize, we are diligently progressing with development, so please keep your expectations high for this model.

nice shape. I remember the prelude was pretty popular when I was younger.

Looks like a Japanese g82.

And electric power too? Honda knew this was the way to go if they were to bring back that name in todays world.

Good job Honda!

I miss the old prelude and those H22 engines.... mmmmm

This looks like a pretty solid concept. I wonder will it compete with the 300Z spec wise?

Very mid-2000's Accord Coupe profile, and not much of a throwback look to any Prelude. Nice looking though, I hope they bring the name back. I've owned so many Preludes in the past it would be cool just to see the same on a production vehicle again (that's not been turned into an SUV).

Agreed. The Preludes had a longer hood.

Honda "concepts" like these are usually pretty close to what the car will really look like. This particular concept looks surprising refined and finished and short of the wheels/offset, looks production ready. Many bits look to be shared from the Civic platform.

Honda might say this will be all electric because it was likely conceived during the massive EV push from a few years back. But given the EV climate right now, Honda will dial it back and it will become a light hybrid if they build it (which they should). Mark my word.

Dodge said the new Charger would be EV only. Now that's not true now. It will be offered with a turbo I6.

Spot on, owned an 03 and an 05 accord and instantly thought of them while looking at this prelude. Was actually shopping for the last gen prelude before buying the first accord.

Yep 'peak EV' has been and gone. Here in the UK, the government are having to give big tax breaks to get them sold.

I see accord coupe design language all over that concept.

Not a bad thing, but doesn't look like a prelude to me. Still cool, and glad it will be a hybrid.

Imagine if they brought that back and made it what an FRS is? Failure after the first year it came back.

Electric is the way to go!!! Our future is here!

i like it.

hopefully it is a hybrid and starts below 30. if its full EV i'm guessing the range will be pretty bad.

Not bad but I wish they had used a design modeled more after the 5th Gen, with longer hood.

My last Prelude was a twin carb JDM spec and was nothing special. Got me to work over day that was it. If it was anything like one from 80's or 90's it's just a rebadged Accord with two doors less.

Better have more than a 190 hp motor attached to the front wheels. Former 98 SH owner. Looks good.

Honda confirmed that this concept is a hybrid, not an EV.
