Anyone cross-shop the new Camaro? I think it's shaping up pretty nice!!
last batch of spypics I've seen.
http://www.camaro5.com/?p=67 Anyone here consider the new Camaro even though it's coming out later than the 1-series? I think it's looking a lot like the concept which I loved when I saw a car show a year ago. |

i expected more: 45+ for the loaded one. i cross-shopped it because i have a 67. thought it'd be cool to have the 1st gen and then the 1st gen remake. but i was disappointed when i saw the v6 option. i didn't really want it to be such a pathetic car, it looks awesome, but a bunch of slow cheap camaros everywhere, like ford's mustang, would kinda kill the appeal for me. v6 will be mid to upper 20s i guess. with those looks and that price its sure to be a hot item for people that don't care about having a v6.
also, i can't wait 'til 09! |

They're gonna make a new Camaro?
oh...wait...............and wait....... Really I would like to see new ones on the road. GM, even with Lutz, still suffer from the Procter and Gamble hangover management style of the 80's. At least they went with rwd instead of front.

I thought about it, but GM is just too slow. If they had one out at the same time as the 135 or within a month or two it may have been a tough decision. But last I heard, they wouldn't be for sale until Spring 09. I am just not that willing to wait, now if I dont like the 135 I may go for a mazdaspeed3. I think that is next on my list of 'bang for the buck cars.'

Why do you guys think the V8 version is going to be so much? GM's selling the Vette with the LS3 in it for ~$45k. My GTO was under $30k, and the new Pontiac G8 with a 6.0L V8 is a decently apointed 4 door for under $30k. I'd guess the Z28 with the LS3 will sell for around $32k, and then maybe a LS7 powered monster a year later in the mid $40s. Pricing the Z28 at $40k would mean instant death. This car is meant to take sales from the Mustang, which is well under $30k. |

This is a car i considered. I really wanted the challenger. But just keep watching the V8 Camaro, it might be another one of those "limited production" numbers. If i were to get one, I would have only gotten the V8. I settled on the 135i. I think there may be alot of new camaros around. Just like the mustang. There definately wont be to many 135i's around....

I promise that a top of the line Camaro (probably called Z28) will be with in a couple hundred bucks of an SRT8 Challenger. A mid-level V8 (RS maybe?) will be within a couple hundred bucks of a Challenger RT. And the V6s will be the same story.

Like I said, loaded (the only way IMO) will be about $40k
I can't stand V6 Mustangs. Its like getting a Cadilac with a vinyl bench seat. Or a Hybrid Viper. How about a V6 Vette automatic. |

For some folks, it's all about show... not worried about go. To each his own, or in the case of a V6... to each her own. If they couldn't sell them, they wouldn't build them. |

Wrong. The Z28 will be under $30k base and carry 400hp The SS version will get 505hp and come in under $40k. They are about to give "bang for the buck" a whole new meaning. Chevy doesnt charge a ridiculous amount of money for options, even loaded they wont be more than $5-$6k more.
I will be getting one of those two, not sure which. |

Have you driven one? You may want to. The torque limiter to cut down on massive torque steer sucks. The turbo dies at 5500 rpm and it really sucks. Good thing is only $23k.

I haven't driven it yet, just the regular mazda3, that was uneventful. I will probably drive one just prior to driving the 135 to solidify my choice to spend 20k more. It is quite a different car, and I have heard about the problems you spoke of so I will just have to see. I don't really expect it to compete with the 135, but it is a much cheaper alternative as a daily driver.

I did get an auto 135 so maybe she could have that and I could get the camaro.:iono: It would be fun to have both in the household (except on the days we fill up with 4-5 dollar gas).

Will not happen. What makes you think the Camaro is going to cost that much more than a four door car riding the same chassis that also has a large V8 in it? It won't be a dime over $35k. Chyrsler is out to luch with those prices. The Challenger will sell well at first, but it's way overpriced. GM knows that, and won't make the same mistake. |

In a year, there are going to be Challenger R/Ts at every intersection, just like there are Charger R/Ts there today. So far, it sure doesn't look like Chrysler has made much of a mistake. If anything, the General has missed by being a year behind the profit train. My $.02  |
