Please do NOT spread "Fake News"... I have friends who got 2023 340, 2024 340, also 2 X5 40i.... have not heard any issue related to B58 engine at all... One car was at 50K+ mileage already, and so far working strongly.

Do your regular maintenance and BMW is reliable in general.

This is one of the largest BMW forums so if there were a problem with the lastest gen B58 engine we would have heard about it on here by now.

That is correct, just like we saw with the X5 50e problems, the forum lights up when there are general reliability issues and we have not seen that.

TU2 is B58 with port injection? if yes,, I think only 2024/5 model year start with that.. My opinion is B58 is a proven reliable engine.

AND I am not sure why the video posted something BMW just "released" recently and he can already said it is not reliable??? (better than BMW RAS research) BTW, I don't see much posted on this forum on owners crying for help on B58 TU2 issue.

That's WHY I said this is Fake News... Understand?

Public outcry will likely be more evident once these vehicles equipped with B58TU2 are no longer under warranty.

We didn't know until a few weeks ago which engine the X3 G45 will be receiving and even on the 3 and 4 Series, that just happened earlier this year.

Video talked about issues prior to 10,000 miles so maybe it's too soon even for those vehicle owners to encounter potential issues.

People are equating potential issues with fake news lol. The video never said 100% of the engines are problematic and are being recalled, it just mentioned there are more and more issues being reported by various sources, including mechanics.

It is clickbait junk designed to pull in views. We have seen no reliability issues with the B58TU2 and we definitely would be seeing them if they were occurring in any meaningful way. Forums tend to magnify issues, not hide them.

I don't know. That guy seems to very well respected, based on comments from his audience. He also seems to know what he's talking about cause I did subscribe to this channel weeks back.

And his comment about waiting one or two more years makes perfect sense not just for engines but early production model years in general.

Design issues can be repaired under warranty but it doesn't mean the issue will not recur. It really depends if it's a band-aid fix or real solution but since most people lease their BMWs, it probably doesn't even matter as long as the lease period is well within the warranty period.

He better seem to know his stuff or people wouldn't follow him.

Easy answer - it's YouTube and he wants to get views and increase his ad-revenue. This is accomplished with a hyperbolic or shocking video title. I hate what YT has turned into. You can't even trust what the "car reviewers" say because you know they lie or aren't overly critical so that they can continue to get cars from all of the manufacturers press departments. Without them they'll have nothing to review thus no income from ad-revenues.

I definitely trust what car reviewers are saying about the new 5.

I am following him for quite a time and I have to say, that in my view, he is very calm and not dramatizing things.

He also doesn´t say that the engine is crap, but that there can be more issues as the previous models.

It is fact, that the new engines are medium output models with integrated exhaust manifold and not the higher 6port version as the G01 had. Which is a downgrade.

He put out another video and in it tries to explain what he was talking about (10:53 in the video). He got caught and is trying to weasel out of it as if he was just passing along information from a recall that is listed. He should also be man enough to say that the emissions recall does list the dates of production (posted earlier in the thread) and it was for early production.

So basically he is questioning the reliability of the engine based on a limited number of early production that has a bad batch of parts.
