2026 BMW iX3 Neue Klasse Prototype Latest Sighting (Video)

Have a latest look at the iX3 prototype in testing.

The latest info we have about it (from Future BMW Models Info Thread):

NA5 iX3
  • In production 7/25-10/33 in Debrecen with a single European model. A single US model will start production in 03/26. Production at SLP starts in the second half of 2026.
  • Model range: 40, 40 xDrive, 50 xDrive, M60 xDrive
  • Will be the first model to use several new features. The most interesting ones are the Panoramic Stage interface recently previewed in the NK concept (it will be standard) and the Augmented View. The options we're already familiar with will include Iconic Glow exterior, the first use of multifunction seats with massage function on a 3-series level model, and various M features (M packages, M trims, M seats, M steering wheel). At least at this time, there is no autonomous driving beyond Level 2.
  • May include ZA5 iX3M.

This might be a winner if the interior is similar to the iX with all the extra room a true EV affords.

I’m a boomer I guess as I can’t stand the minimalistic (cheap to produce) interior trend Tesla started. Tesla did it because it was cheap and now everyone is following. To me it reminds me of a studio apartment with a chair and tv and nothing else. I know i will eventually have no choice sadly.

I am hoping that once all manufacturers reach similar 0-60 acceleration figures (around 2-3 seconds) with their EVs very soon in the future, then the design and the material quality will be more important again. Maybe I am too optimistic. We'll see.

That’s not really what I mean. I’m talking about the extra space you get with no transmission tunnel or the back half of the engine intruding on the cabin.

I’m not a fan of spartan interiors either unless they’re done in the contemporary Volvo ethos.

Tesla has screwed up the whole auto industry in the name of modernization, minimalism with the true intention of just cost reduction.

I saw on a newly revealed Ferrari (cannot remember), there is button like Tesla to open the door from inside.

Every single auto company is having FOMO thinking this is what customers want.

Sure there is design evolution, but Tesla just acted as a catalyst going from 25 tactile buttons to single digit things you can access outside of the touchscreen.

I would still like a non electric door opening lever in my car.

I am not a boomer but I fully agree with you, this new direction is quite controversial but people love to label it as a comparison of going from Horse carriage to EVs.

Give the baby a large touchscreen, and it’s a drug that makes them forget about every flaw of the car or design aspect (yea that’s what I think Tesla did, and fooled the masses).

I agree 100% and I’m a millennial! I cannot stand the push for lack of physical buttons. It’s ugly, more dangerous, and just cheap looking. Please BMW do not follow Tesla’s path of destruction!

Who cares? No body needs an suv that goes 0-60 in 3 sec. It only matters for internet bragging.

I’d happily take something in the 5 sec area but has more range.

Maybe you don’t

You cannot speak for others…

I personally love having the ability when it’s useful or truly needed for safety reasons… Imagine that ❕

"Who cares?"... Probably most people? Just consider why manufacturers prioritize faster 0-60 times over extended range. If the demand was for slower cars with longer range, then the car market would look very different than it does now.

If you want a slow car thats fine, but there's no reason that Hyundai and Tesla's 50,60k offerings should be faster than anything that BMW currently makes.

There is an iX1 and iX2 out already, or are you talking about on this new NK platform?

Not sure if it’s in the US though?

Slower EVs don’t make for more range. Lucid (most efficient EV in the market) found that motors were most efficient when they were working lower in their power band. So more powerful motors were actually more efficient

Completely agree; for example, how many times per journey do I need to adjust the cabin temperature and fans vs how many times I need to get to 60 in less than 4 seconds? Yet, the former is now an on-screen pain in the butt, but there is a simple pedal to do the latter
