X3 - Interest Rate - Buying the Car

one dealer told me 5.2% another 6.5%.
What should it be for 36 Months, $30,000 down.

Depends on your credit score. Why put so much money down? I get it lowers the payment, unless it’s a trade in.

Were those dealer quotes based on BMW financing? Or other banks / financial institutions?

Given the current high auto loan rates, BMW's own financing usually offers the most attractive interest rates. My dealership told me that BMW Financial Service's rates aren't out yet for the new X3, but should be available shortly (October). It's likely their best rates will be 3.99% if you qualify with an excellent credit score.

For the G45, that's just showing the default BMWFS financing interest rate since they haven't released their G45-specific rates yet. They currently only have rates for the G01: https://www.bmwusa.com/special-offers.html. We'll have to see in October what the G45 rates are.

I wonder how much BMW would give a discount if you pay cash?

In the UK, the big discounts are when you use finance. Cash is worse for the dealers, they get rewarded for selling the finance. Crazy.

That’s also been my experience, and you also can benefit from pushing the dealer for a higher GFV on PCP, which yields additional savings.

No, in the US there is little to no difference in the discounts for paying cash versus financing. Where there is a difference is in the incentives that are available.

Think will start to see 14%+ discounts in the UK now reviews are coming out. The APR on PCP will also start to drop.

I’ll wait for the dealer call offering to pay me to take one.

Yes, that what I meant in my earlier reply. You get a BMW contribution and a better Dealer contribution when financing. But the bottom line is that it’s still a discount under a different name.

Gotcha. In the US we only refer to the dealer's reduction in price as the discount and then talk about incentives separately since not everyone qualifies for them. This way it helps others to have an idea of what their target discount should be.

Base APR in the US is 5.29%, but they don't add incentives or better terms on new model year cars until they are actually hitting the ground (and saleable), so I'm guessing things will be better for October or November.

My CA told me they're expecting promo financing rates to be released soon for the G45. Don't know what the ETA is though. Maybe check with your dealer directly?

Nice! Yeah, my plan is to either pay the loan off wayyy early and/or re-fi if needed so don't really care too much about the actual rate. I usually finance through a dealer as it generally makes them more amenable to better overall pricing.

Mostly I figured I'd just provide it as a data/reference point for other folks.
