Seats - Different options? Found m50 too narrow

A couple weeks ago we put down a refundable deposit on an X3 xDrive30 build. To get the brooklyn grey color we wanted, we spec'd the M Sport package.

Yesterday we got to test drive an m50 and I found the bottom side bolsters too narrow. Which is odd, because I am pretty thin (6' 2" and 175 lbs). The dealer seemed unsure on whether the m50 seats will be the same as those in the xDrive30 & M Sport package, does anyone here know? Am I the only person finding the seats too narrow? It may be because I'm used to spreading out my legs given how long they are. I don't want this to be the thing that tanks the car, but at the same time, I'm not going to spend +$55k to be uncomfortable.

Seems like for this new gen, the seats will be the same no matter what trim or package you get. Just the surface material will be different.

Get the dealer to confirm the seat option code. The M50 has S481 Sports Seat.

Afaik they are the same in the 30, but as said material choice/adjustment may make it feel different.

Here it’s the same seat on M Sport and non M Sport models.

Thanks for the quick response! But *sigh* that is what I was worried about. It seems odd that I of all people found the seat bottom too narrow. Now I may need to test exactly how refundable this deposit is ...

Looking at my Vehicle Inquiry Report, the only seat codes I see are 453 (Front Ventilated Seats) and 4HA (front and rear heated seats).

Dumb question perhaps, but just to be sure: you did try adjusting the side bolsters, right? There's a button to do that above the seat position adjustment.

I thought I was thin at that same height, but you are about 15lbs to the better of me. Did you find the G01 seats too narrow if you had a chance to sit in one? If so, based on my buttometer, your preference to splay your legs may be a factor. Do you sit back far enough (to help your legs) so your fully stretched out arms reach the steering wheel at your wristwatch area? What current vehicle seats you comfortably?

I’m not sure how adding that option differs the fit, if at all, from the S481, without it.

Here’s a VIN showing the options codes that this particular M50 has on the front seats. The seat is S481 with the option code you mentioned added to the front seat amongst others.

Here 453 is just an option added to S481.

Have you actually sat in the type of seat you think you’ve ordered ?

I thought the G01 were fine. I’m going to go back this week and try some different positions. Right now I have a 2015 328i, the side boosters are pretty flat

No I have not (it wasn’t available yet), the dealer though thought they’re all the same seats
