If you don't like BMW, buy something else
There is a very big market available for new cars. If you don’t like what BMW are offering, buy something else.
If you prefer the new Audi Q5 over an X3, that’s fine, it’s your choice. If you prefer luxurious Genesis interiors, then feel free to get one. If you think that BMW are more like Kia nowadays, go get something else. We all have to make a judgement on what’s available, what we like and dislike and what we can afford. I’ve gone for a new X3 and I’m very happy about my decision. I’m equally comfortable that others will disagree and prefer something else. For those who keep posting that they don’t like it, I think we have got the message now. |

Well written. Got tired of people saying the same thing again and again. I think everyone understood that there are some drawbacks and it’s up to the individual to decide what is good for them. So please stop with the repetitive content.

If you made a thread stating ‘I bought an X3 and here’s why I love it’ that would make sense. However stating the obvious (that people can buy other cars) then saying you are effectively tired of reading criticism is at best is stifling debate, at worst is an attempt to censor people’s opinions. That isn’t going to get you very far. If you actually look at the criticism, and the posters doing the criticising, they are all long time BMW buyers. I myself have bought 4 new BMW’s just in the last 5 years - I like them a lot. So when I see a nerfed release like the X3, which is a car I potentially wanted to buy, what you are seeing is disappointment that BMW released such a weak product compared to what they are capable of. It’s natural to then compare the car to what else is out there.

nobody is messaging you or directing complaints twrds your purchase. the criticism is directed torwards BMW as we have been driving their machines for some time and now we get this video game console interior in a Toyota+Tesla baby XM.
The point is we know what they are capable of baking but they give us this gimmicky soft design that is not what their traditional customers usualy prefer. So you stating that you are sick of complaints can be solved easily by not reading them. Otherwise it’s a forum for all sorts of opinions like town hall. You can awlays start your own forum and ban people like g8x section did. Since when did other bmw drivers become so soft and sensitive like g8x section?? |

As I see the previous generations of X3 as gut retchingly ugly I never bought one. I didn’t even complain about it until this post. I simply made the choice to not look in their direction even in traffic. The new body to me is perfection. And as I don’t spend my time in a vehicle caressing or banging my head against the dash material it bothers me not one bit what it feels like. I saw it in person unlike many who knock it because someone else says so. I liked it enough to buy a loaded M50.

that being said... i think bmw released this new gen X3 under constraints and were VERY careful to make sure their number 1 seller doesn't go up in price to retain the market... the answer was simple... carry over the drivetrain and just throw a tune on it... remove rfts, retune the suspension and have the cost savings in the interior as most people would be good enough w large screens as thats the trend these days

I think he’s just saying the threads are getting repetitive. Which tends to happen on these kind of forums. Same people posting the same thing

OP thinks the market for cars is bigger than the market for permitted opinions on the internet. Lol.

Well this is a forum of public opinion, so everyone is entitled to express their views in a polite fashion..
I had a F25 X3 for 7 years, absolutely loved it. I don't remember *any* criticism of that car, the forum felt like a bunch of kids absolutely adoring their new cars. Fast forward 10 years and you read tons of criticism instead. I wouldn't blame it on 'the people' here. Personally after 5y years now in X5 G05's I was *so* looking forward to get back into an X3. In fact, I wanted an X3 3 years ago but they didn't have all the options, and the lead time was silly... So imagine the frustration of people who like driving these cars when they see 'their' brand going down in such a short time... |

I think if you actually owned one and drove it you wouldn’t have this opinion. The problem is many people opinion is based on a 2 minute look.
The thing drives much better than the prior generation in comfort and sport mode. Speakers are better. Car essentially functions without any rattle or issue. I love the car. Overall improvement with daily use of the car. It’s easy to go along with the crowd and try to bury something without the actual experience of owning it. But as you said everyone is entitled to their opinion but I personally find most people opinion to be superficial and to lack actual experience with the car. People complain with every generation and model that gets released. This is definitely not a downgrade. |

All the points noted above I observed from pictures, read from forum members who did test drive or learned watching professional reviews. And, none of these points sit well with me. I like the functionality of a sun roof that opens, and functioning buttons so in what world would I find the new X3 an upgrade? Doesn’t matter how sublime the driving experience is if, personally, there are detractors which mute the overall experience. |

I would assume some people place an emphasis on the core function of a car which is how it drives but I maybe wrong. It’s apparently a sunroof and climate control buttons. Who knew…
I would say the upgrade is in the suspension, steering response, pedal response , overall tech package etc. but if that holds no value to you then you wouldn’t view it as an upgrade. Different preferences for different people. I would advise you to buy a genesis. Or maybe an Aston Martin if you have the budget( actually no it’s trash it has a sunroof only) They put there budget into the interior since that seems to be your top priority. You seem to advocate a myopic view that one either prioritize driving experience or interior - but not both. At this price point, I disagree with you. Seeing the direction BMW is headed prompted me to get my 2024 X4; thankfully, I didn’t need compromise on any of my priorities. |

It’s not myopic to focus on the core function of an object.By getting a 2024 you are sacrificing what I have described. The 2025 car is a much better car overall if you value actual driving experience and the sound system is improved as a side note. Basically you’re buying a car with old tech. If that’s what you like then that is fine but to make a statement like what upgrade? Is a bit ridiculous.
There is a community that absolutely hates the titanium bands around the new iPhones and sticks with stainless steel from iPhone 14. They will stand and say oh the heaviness of the stainless makes for a better phone. It’s the same perspective to me. At some point you just have to move forward. New tech, new trends. Sunroofs are trendy right now for whatever reason. To echo the point below companies generally homogenize into what has shown prior success. These cars are massive investments and you cannot take big risks. There is something to be said about bmw and its qualities. At this point isn’t my life I want something to works with little fuss as a top priority. BMW seems to be getting very good at that. Last edited by BigRam7151; 10-27-2024 at 09:55 AM.. |

My interest in the G45 at this point is whether or not it will continue as a BMW best seller or do a reversal of when Porsche introduced the Cayenne and made the "anonymous blob SUV" popular. Either way, may make for an interesting MBA post-Pandemic (but designed during Pandemic) case study one day...

I think this thread has gone off on a tangent (when does that ever happen?) not intended by the OP. I read his first post as essentially a disappointment with boring repetition. Before anyone trots out the cliché of "well, then, don't read it", we are all most likely here to read interesting, even provocative, and/or informative posts by the community. We see a bold font topic in the menu and click to see what new or interesting comments are being offered, only to see more of the same. Yawn. No one is trying to stifle, stomp on freedom of expression or speech, or preclude negative opinions. I read his concern as what we, as kids, used to call "Lunch Box Letdown", when you open your lunchbox at school only to find the very same type of sandwich mom has made every day the last three weeks in a row. Love the G45/hate the G45, that's fine, but we've all been through that already. Isn't it time to get interesting again?
