Motiv Reflex - Questions about harness options and connections
I'm about to add port injection to my B46 (Gen 1), and will be using Motiv Reflex+ as the controller. I'm currently running BM3, but will likely switch to EcuTek. I will be running Flex Fuel. The integration and communication with the CAN-Bus is beyond my comprehension, so I need some guidance on the appropriate harness, etc.
Directly from Motiv, they sell a flying lead connection, in addition to their own basic harness. They also sell a harness made from Visconti and TMS. When going directly to the website of Visconti and TMS, additional variations of these harness kits are offered. Finally, Precision Raceworks has some options. I will be adding the LPFP and Ethanol sensor cables. My confusion is with the plug-and-play harness options vs flying lead/tap option. I'm not doing the install myself, but I like the sound of plug-and-play. I don't mind the additional cost. However, aside from the need to tap wires, the non-harness option looks much easier. What am I missing here? The instructions I've read/watched for the harness kits require going through the firewall and connecting into the footwell module (body domain module), in addition to reaching the crank sensor, etc. in the engine bay. Are these connections to the footwell module not happening with the non-harness/tap option. If not, what am I gaining by making those additional connections? I appreciate any insight and education on this topic. Thanks!
