USB FlashKey Plug in
Hi All,
Loving the forum so far just signed up today!! Ive got an X3 on order and was wondering if it has the same facility as my current X5 to plug in a FlashKey loaded with music. Yes I know I can use Amazon or Spotify but I have my CD collection on the Flashkey. When its plugged in I can select it in the Media options and it works a treat!! I think the X3 has all USB C (the slightly smaller socket) fittings so will I need a new Flashkey?? |

Yes, one of the center console USB-C ports is supporting data transfer and music from USB is working as usual.
Luckily they didn't remove the feature like they did on the new X1 last year. You can also use a small adapter or cable like this instead of getting a new USB stick. This has also the benefit, that the USB stick doesn't protude so much with the risk of damaging the port: https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B0B8MVVCGR |

Just to add to this, I've been running a 256GB USB stick/key for MP3s off the center console USB port for months now on my M50. All good!

I use on of these for audio, as whilst not as small as some USB A drives, it’s about the lowest profile USB C I could find at the time, and I avoid adapters for audio use.
If your priority isn’t audio quality you can store a lot of lossy MP3, VOB etc files, but lossless takes more storage. |

I haven’t found anything as low profile as the Ultra Fit in USB C so far. |
