Enjoy this POV Austrian drive

Looking for winter road trip inspiration? We’ve found the best festive drive and you’re invited to ride along in the best seat in the house: the driver’s seat. Through the POV of the new BMW iX3.

Sit back and take in the snowy vistas of Austria framed through the Neue Klasse. From snow-capped mountain roads, twisty hairpins, frosted alpine trees to twinkling Austrian towns – every scene is a real-life winter wonderland.

Key Moments:
00:00 Intro – Getting into the new BMW iX3.
00:19 Kaunertal Glacier road.
06:23 Kaunertal Glacier road with lake views.
06:52 Snowy villages.
08:19 Tunnels with a view.
09:01 Mountain roads.
12:46 Mountain roads at dusk.
17:14 Festive town lights.
20:15 Night drive in Sport Mode.
21:36 Arriving home.

Immerse yourself inside the first vehicle of the Neue Klasse and the first-ever BMW Panoramic iDrive, powered by Operating System X. Watch on to see how interaction between driver and car has become seamless and intuitive, experiencing what driving can feel like in a digital, electric age.

From customisable modes, voice gesture-controlled intelligent personal assistant and an ergonomic Central Display that lies at the heart of the redefined design language, every drive is a personal expression of joy, feeling more BMW than ever before.

This is Freude am Fahren rewritten for the holiday season.

Beautiful car but you’re posting in the wrong section altogether. Try looking for the appropriate areas like the f30 chassis section !

Those thick vertical steering wheel spokes appear to block the pano dash. Guessing they don’t and it’s to block the blank space where gauges should be

They don't block the view. They do make for a very awkward looking steering wheel though, at least in pictures and video. Maybe it isn't so bad in person... :confused2

Seems odd in that video that haven’t taken the opportunity to show off the ambient lighting in the tunnels. It’s all actually turned off which is weird surely they would turn it up to max and get some funky colours on it…..

The views are great, but I no longer aspire to own BMWs.

Hope they get their act together soon and fix the interiors :(

I think this is what we’re stuck with at least for a couple of generations. The “classic” interiors from BMW are pretty much done and probably won’t be returning any time soon.

Personally, I don’t think it’s completely doom/gloom. The interior of the X1 probably does the new touch screen better than all the other models so if they’re able to tweak or build off that, I think it could work.

One minute I am refusing the new trend of the wide screen console and trying to find some way to like them thinking at one point will have to move on from idrive 7 and they go and take away the screens and copy the Yaris + wide hud lol. I think I’m gonna buy a moped with a fake turbo!! Hahaha

What kind of irks me is that they pat themselves for being so environmentally conscious and yet many of their materials are still offgassing and/or shedding microplastics so for the actual person that buys one, it's really no better than most other mfg offerings. Maybe 10-20% at best. I'd like to see quantitative emission data.

At least make all your glass dual pane to keep UV's from breaking this stuff down even quicker.

Volvo/Polestar/MB EQS/Honda/Acura all do a better job. Tesla has dual pane all around.

You could mitigate much of it by adding a high quality air purifier (HEPA w/carbon) but I would have hoped for more at these price points.

If this kind of interior isn't your thing, the future of cars is not for you.

Interesting to see the battery range with the heating to a comfortabel temperature in extreme cold conditions. If i recalculate that gives a range of around 700km real world range. Impressive

Agree. The future of cars is also not for me if this is the direction.

(that said, that snow covered valley is gorgeous and I do love the ad concept, if not the vehicle interior concept.)

It was my initial reaction on first seconds, the image composition was too clean/perfect, I guess the interior white helped the effect.
If I was able to choose the m sport seats in white, I probably would have gone for those.

I skimmed through the video. They intentionally didn't drive behind a lead vehicle for essentially the entirety of what was shown on wet/snow covered roads which is why they were able to avoid this.
