AWESOME!

First click, Aha-Take on me...probably one of the most recognizable videos of the 80s!

Awesome find!

So in other words, you like New Wave!

EDIT: Of course, now that I think of it, rap, punk, alternative, and depeche mode-style alternative/techno were all generes of the 80s, too.

By the way, I was never a big fan of hair bands or power ballads, but there was an awesome documentary on VH-1 about the history of metal...it started with Black Sabbath in the late 70s and went all the way up to modern marylin manson. But it was great watching all the old hair bands get out of control.

Hair bands like Crue, Twisted Sister, Scorpions, Warrant, Ratt were all on and showed how bands like Metallica actually were struggling to belong because with the mainstream bands...that is, if your band wanted to sell records, you had to dress like a woman and have at least one power ballad on your album. Anyway it was a great documentary!

And to this day, it still amazes me how much the beatles influence even modern music...after all, they were the first "rock" group to wear their hair long!

80's

So I got to the 80's site and got a 90's problem --> some kind of server video errror. BTW, what do we call the 00's? Easy enough to type, but can't really say. "21st Century" started sounding lame sometime into mid January 2000, and double-ott's makes you sound like a hunter...Seems like something would have caught on, halfway through the decade already.

Yeah, I liked the rota-scope animation on "Take-On-Me"...though I always think of Butthead saying "Like is that dude yodeling or something?"

I actually liked the ultimate development of the lead guitar lick that went on in the late 80's and died sometime in the early 90's. Unfortunately, it seems to me that after hearing Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Yngwe Malmsteen, that someone in Seattle said "f-this, it's too difficult.. I can't play this. Tried for months and still can't do it. Let's just turn up the distortion and vary the chords twice a song."

I listened to some heavy stuff on Sirius, supposed to be rock, I guess, and the rhythm all sounds like grunge, only for some reason the "vocalists" all started shouting. I mean really shouting. Jeez, I'd rather listen to Eminem than these guys.

Gimme Blues.

God, flashback. Mid 80's in Junior high...good times.

Anyone remember the show "Thirty Something"? I remember my mom watching it and thinking to myself, who would want to watch a show bout a bunch of old raisins? Now that I am "Thirty Something" it doesn't seem so old.

Still preoccupied with 1985

Woohoohoo
Woohoohoo

Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass
On the hood of Whitesnake’s car
Her yellow SUV is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing has been alright since

Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
Cuz she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoohoo
(1985)
Woohoohoo

She’s seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo’s Fire
She rocked out to Wham
Not a big Limp Bizkit fan
Thought she’d get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where’s the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who’s the other guy that's singing in Van Halen
When did reality become T.V.
What ever happen to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio was)

Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
Cuz she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoohoo

She hates time make it stop
When did Motley Crue become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop!
And bring back

Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she’s uncool
Cuz she's still preoccupied
With 1985

Woohoohoo
