Considering a Jeep Cherokee SRT8, any experiences?

I'm considering buying a 2009 Jeep Cherokee SRT8...anyone have any experiences?
I need something that can handle light snow, rain....can carry 4 people on a weekend trip...and can handle it's own on the autobahn...

No off-roading and I'm ok with MPGs similiar to the E92 M...

They may be fast, but autobahn speeds require stability as well. Plus Chrysler as a company may not even exist next year.

I just traded in a 2006 300C SRT-8 and 2005 Crossfire SRT-6 for my 135 so I have alot of experience with SRT vehicles. The Cherokee SRT-8 is a beast! I did the SRT Driving Experience and the Jeep had the best 0-60 times because of the AWD during launch. It handles surprising well for a Jeep. Probably not as well as a German SUV, but it's going to be a lot less. It's an amazing engine and I think it looks awesome on the road. The interior and fit and finish is not going to be up to par with other SUV's, but again, you're paying for the 6.1L Hemi and the ability to take many sports sedans when the light turns green!

Have you driven one yet? You should be able get some good deals on an '08 as well. Check the Jeep forums, too.

Those SRT8s are amazing, IMHO. I've heard tales of punishing acceleration. I really want to get behind the wheel of one to see what it is like.

I've seen one in my life, guy driving it passed me on the street and took a left turn at 40+ mph, no tire squeal or anything, like he was a slotcar.

I almost bought one this past spring. I drove several and realy liked the SUV. The tranny problems kept me from buying one though. Champion Jeep here in Illinois has the best prices on new ones. Also, the 2007 vastly improved the interior so skip anything pre 2007.

My friend had one for about 6 months. Was a sick ride with nitrous. But it rattled badly from day one.

+1 They sell worldwide and always seem to have the lowest prices. Trust me, I've compared them many times.

I do. They are fast as shit and handle very well, unlike the TB SS.

Also, you would be insane to buy a brand new one. After about a year or two they lose 50% of their value. Do yourself a favor and buy one that is a year or two old and save BIG money.

Fast, but terrible gas mileage... Other than that I haven't heard many negatives on the car except subjective claims on styling...
