Ruined a 1-day old GTR....
This is probably in the wrong section....but I thought you'd enjoy the story....
I was in the States with my wife this weekend and I was driving home and needed to stop for gas. I take the next exit into Arlington, WA where there's a Chevron station. Stopped at the exit of the gas station was a absolutely stunning white GTR with BC plates. I start filling up gas and see the driver pop his hood. After I finish pumping gas I walk over to see what was going on....the owner (Taiwanese guy in his 20s with his dad) said he just purchased the car the day before and it won't start now. He's on the phone with Nissan at 8pm on Saturday night bitching at them. The car was only 1 day old!!! Anyways...he let me get in to try it...starter sounded fine and everything was lit so it didn't seem like a battery issue. I offered him a ride but he was reluctant to leave the car in booney town. I wish him luck and drive off. After about 20 minutes of driving it occurs to me.....holy shit....what happens if he filled it up with Diesel.... I decided to turn around as I know what it feels like to be stranded and not know what's wrong with the car. Of course when I got there he was still on the phone....I asked him...which pump did you use? The red (gas) or the green (diesel). He replies "What do you mean!!?". I bring him over to the pump. In Vancouver the one on the right is usually 94 octane and diesel is a seperate pump but in the states diesel is connected and is where the 94 octane is. He replies "OMG...I used the green one". I was like...how'd you get it in? The nozzle is a different shape. He apparently kind of forced it in. He thought it was because it was American. So...ended up killing the one-day old GTR by filling it with Diesel. It was going to be towed to the nearest Nissan dealership 20mi away. Who knows how much it's going to cost. Man...do I feel for the guy....

It won't be ruined.
They'll just have to replace the fuel filter, and run some normal fuel through it. Diesel won't damage anything, just gum up the works. Of course the stealership will probably charge him a whole lot of money just because they have a captive audience. |

Watch this: For people who are skeptical about that car being okay after minor repair.

That was such a kind thing that you did helping him out. Of course if you had been a true altruist you would have gotten a hose and sucked out all the diesel ...
Anyone read the Darwin awards -- one of them was for a doof that was trying to steal gas by siphoning it out of an RV and got the sewage tank by mistake.

after he gets his fuel tank cleaned out, all should be good with a couple of tanks of regular gas.
