Can anyone here recommend any books or online articles about body language? I'm interested in more of the psychological aspect of it. For example what would it mean if someone looks up, instead of down, when thinking. Or what are signs of attraction or discomfort.

Ya but I don't know which one to get so I thought I'd ask for advice before buying one..

i'm sure they all say something similar. i don't see how there's really a right or wrong answer to these interpretations of body language. there can only be a few answers that make sense or are generally accepted/used.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but one school of thought says that there are two main types, open and closed. Open body language indicates acceptance, attraction, general feelings of well being, security, etc. Closed indicates discomfort, disapproval, etc. These signs differ for men and women.

Some signs of attraction may be playing with hair, exposing forearms, etc. In particular, pay attention to the direction a woman's feet point when she talks to you. If they point toward you she is focused on you regardless of the direction her torso is facing.

Some signs of disapproval would be crossed arms, not turning to face you, placing items (such as a purse or coat) or people between you and her, and other closed if not blatantly defensive postures. Losing focus on you when your speaking is obviously bad as well. If she's that easily distracted, she's probably not interested.

There's a lot more to it than that, and most of what I've posted is pretty obvious I suppose.

When I read up on the subject out of curiousity a few years ago, the "foot direction" thing wasn't obvious to me. I've found it's usually true as well.

Yupp, I've read a few articles on it as well. The foot thing does work, one advice they had is if you're talking to a girl, point your feet away from her which will look like you're about to leave and it'll make her want you to stay more

Is this for a girl?

Usually when someone is looking down when you try to make eye contact or pass them it indicates shyness/nervousness.

To find out if a girl likes you, it's best to use your intuition. But usually, they will become nervous in your presence, have trouble maintaining direct eye contact or may even ignore you all together (to avoid possible rejection), or they will make direct eye contact while you are talking and smile, laugh a lot, etc. etc.

Thing I've noticed most is that they will NOT act the same around you as compared to another person they are not attracted to. You should be able to tell.
