Back me up...

So I spent 2 hours on Saturday washing, drying, and detailing my e90 for the long weekend. Sunday evening I'm going to a wedding reception, but the forecast called for rain Sunday night, but nice weather for a few days after that.

So, I decide that we should take my wife's SUV and leave my e90 in my garage so it doesn't have to go out in the rain, and can look great for a few more days. Anyway, some friends were surprised when we showed up in the Honda CRV, and were giving me a rough time at the wedding about being so anal about my ride. It was a constant theme for the evening - make fun of me.

I couldn't get any of them to back me up - they must not like their cars. I know someone(s) here will back me up???

I'm not anal like that really but I don't think it justifies making fun of someone.

my driving and schedule does revolved around weather my car is clean or not. sounds crazy i know... but my cleaning hours are valuable. takes hours to clean... minutes in the rain to trash it.

eg ~ my father is having a 4th casual get together today... its rain out... i'm staying home... the 3 is spotless. its going to be nice for the next 3 - 4 days.

even my wife is understanding.

Cleary, given your "I like to get wet" thread and your lovely wet Arctic photos.

Lol, well I don't have a garage and I'm sure my baby would rather have a nice shower than sit around dirty haha. I haven't washed her since our trip to St. Petersburg so she's kinda eh.

That's what my friend Steve calls rain - a shower for his car. We've always noted irony of how he finds that the rain cleans his car and I find it makes mine dirty.

A shower is more like the hand wash and dry that I give my e90. Sitting out in the rain is more like going for a swim in the ocean- no dirt on you but are you really "clean"?

Well the way it downpours here for like 1 minute and then stops it does seem to clean off the loose dirt. When I lived in Connecticut it would rain lightly all day and the next day my car would look disgusting. There's also more acid rain up there.

I know the pain of cleaning and having it rain right afterwards. I would've done the same without a doubt! That is not anal but just appreciation for the hard work and wanting to enjoy the fruits of your labor a little bit more than a day. I know I take pride in knowing the car is clean. I make sure I clean under the hood, around the engine bay, under and around each passanger door, trunk and so forth. Don't pay attention to what others rag on you about but just knowing that you take pride in ownership.

Got your back too.

I know what you're saying and I've done the same thing. ONCE!

But, it's the same car dirty or clean. And... you can always wash it again.

If I saw a dirty Ferrari, I'd still give it props.

To me it is just a matter of how much time one spends washing the car. I spend 45-1hr washing the car, and when Im done I am going to make an effort to keep it clean.

It's not their car. If they paid for it, they get a say, otherwise, it's none of their business.

hmm I do agree that it would suck to have spent hours detailing your car and get it dirty in just a few minutes. However, if it's something like a a social event I usually take the E90 out. But that doesnt give anyone the right to make fun of you for taking the CRV out. That's a load of crap!

I know, i am like that sometimes as well. But hey, sometimes it really depends on the situation. Either way, you can always wash it again to make it look nice, right?

And spend another couple of hours? No thanks! Have better things to do than to do it again.
