Need Some Advice

I was in my friend's car (a '98 Integra) and we pulled up behind a truck at a stop light. The light turns green, and the truck reverses into us. We all get out, my friend and the truck guy (riding solo) exchange information. We asked him wtf he was thinking, and he said he didn't know. No one was injured, but the front of his bumper is messed up! There's no damage to the truck at all.

A passing by cop pulls over to give assistance.

The guy in the truck is now claiming we rear-ended him. He all of a sudden says, "Dude! How fast were you going when you hit me?"

I kind of flipped out and went, "WTF dude! You reversed into us!"

Anyway, long story short, what should we do?

Well, dispute his version and file a complaint that makes your version clear. Any eyewitnesses that can attest to this?

Just myself as a passenger.

I've already given my testimony to the officer who arrived; however, he didn't seem too interested.

I'm sure the police can figure out whether it's you or him that's the guilty party. In my opinion, a car that has reversed into another car has a different impact then, a car that has hit another car from the back.
Anyway, my other advice would be look for skid marks of the truck and your friend tyres on that road. The skid marks would prove that the truck had indeed reversed into your friends car as it must have left some rubber on the ground and, causing your friend's car to go reverse too.Go back to the road it happened and take a photo of it as soon as possible as they will rub off.

Good luck man.
