I just booked my honeymoon for a cruise of the Panama Canal. I've never been on one and never thought I would ever go on a cruise, but I'm getting married on New Year's Eve so Europe will be pretty cold in January.
Here are some of the stopping points on my 10 day cruise: Panama Canal, Panama Colon (Cristobal), Panama Limon, Costa Rica Ocho Rios, Jamaica Grand Cayman, Islands Cozumel, Mexico Anyone have any experiences with any of these ports? Just looking for some insight... Thanks in advance. ![]()

Never been on a cruise, but I have been to both Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Jamaica... IMO there's nothing spectacular about it, and I'd much rather go to Cayman or Bahamas.

I have never been on cruise but felt I should share this. Someone told me this story. There are lots of crimes being committed on cruise. Very easy to toss someone overboard in the night. There are folks who go on cruise to stalk other folks, they get their way into your cabin and rob you and toss your a%% overboard (if you happen to be in a cabin with a balcony). So be aware of ppl on cruise who might be following you and stalking you. peace!

Went on a cruise in April although in the Caribbean. It was the good time, the only thing I can really complain about was the rough weather the last night heading into NYC to dock. Hopefully you don't hit rough weather and if so have a strong stomach. I felt lightheaded for like 3 days after we got back from all the rocking on the last day.

Yeah, my family and friends took a five day cruise and it was much better than I expected. We departed from Miami, had port stops in Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas. The locals we encountered were pretty nice and the shops were interesting to browse in. The time spent on board was most surprising to me. There were plenty of activites for the younger and older crowd; shows, dance clubs, live music, a casino, etc. And several different things to keep the kids busy; theatre, sport courts, rock climbing, etc. The food was pretty good as well. You'll need to dress up for the Captains Dinner (black tie event), meet the Captain, the waiters put on a good show, it's all kind of cool. We had a rather large group together and really enjoyed it. In the end I think the experience is what you make of it. Congrats and have fun.

I've been on four cruises: Antarctica; Chile to Barbados via Panama Canal; Baltic Sea; and a short one from Miami to Bahamas. Had a "swell" time in the Bahamas after being stung on the wrist.

I went on a 5 days cruise in May 2006. From Galveston to Mexico ( Progesso-tour the city and ruin, and Cozumel-tour city and snorkel). Here are a few pictures.

Ive been on cruises ever since i was 10 (17 now). We usually go on 1 or 2 a year. All in the carib but they are amazing. You will love it. Ive been to Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. They are all great, make sure to do the duns river in Ocho Rios. In grand cayman, if your a golfer ive heard cayman golf is fun but youll probablly want to go shopping with your wife. They have great jewelery shops there my mom always gets something nice and its much cheaper then the states. My family and our family friends the past 3 years have rented a decent size 2(?)ft boat and do that for the day, thats great fun but I dont even want to guess the price. Cozumel is great, if you've never done scuba its fun there but not the ideal place to do it, Grand Cayman is better. Overall you will probablly have a great time, what cruise line are you going on? If its royal carib youll have a great time its wonderful and you and your new wife should do the newlywed show, its always fun watching adults do it. They usually take 1 old couple (70s+) 1 younger couple and then a newlywed. Just have a great time and make sure to relax and not stress yourself out.

It's really accessible here but I haven't had the time. I tried so squeeze one in during my summer break but they don't have many flexible 3 day cruises. Congrats, and have fun.

The small rooms and bathrooms take a couple of days to get use to. By the time that you're relaxed and use to the compactness, it's time to go home.
Honestly unless you've been on a cruise before and enjoyed it, I wouldn't recommend one that's more than week on your inaugural cruise. You might find that you don't like it and you're stuck.

my bad. i guess I interpreted it wrong. But one more thing for Mr.Silver, you should book all of your excursions through the cruise ship your on, either in advance or as soon as you get on the boat. If you do it on your own you could not get what you expect or even worse if you get delayed the boat will leave with out you because you are not with their tour.
