Yesterday I had the pleasure of a 2 hour joyride in a new M3 convertible with the 7 speed double clutch gearbox (DKG in Dutch, DCT in English?). My first experience in a proper M car.
Holy crap! Forget the engine and the car, that gearbox is the star of the show. Buttery smooth imperceptible changes while you're cruising and then snap-your-neck instantaneous changes when you're hammering it. Very impressed to the point that I could finally be tempted away from a manual transmission. Maybe in the next gen 1er? Anyway, just wanted to share ![]()

The new dual-clutch gearboxes are quit amazing. I drive an Audi TTS with one and it was impressive. I desided to stick with the ol' school manual though.
