Updated: Which Image is Best for Logo
Alright as some of you may know, I am looking for a logo for my website (ratemymodifications.com)
My last poll was a disaster since the logos that a friend made for me did not work too well. I told him opinions off Bimmerpost and he came up with a few images that might work for logos. All of these images will have Rate My Modifications written somewhere. Here they are: 1. Speedo w/ Tach 2. Speedo 3. Tach 4. Traffic Light

The traffic light is good. Sites that rate other peoples stuff (whether it be face, poo or mods) tend to lean toward humor and the stoplight leads in well with allowing the user to greenlight or redlight the cars that are posted.

Most of those sites are crappy, I'm trying to take this to another level than the average rating site...idk though

I wish I had some good insight of my own. But, I don't, so I just agree with what he said. Not sure if that's the absolute coolest traffic light pic though.

This is something I did for a client when I first started out, probably 5 years ago or so.
Just to give you an idea of what it COULD look like. Whatever he does, make sure he makes it as a vector file in a program like Illustrator. That is, if you plan on ever printing it or using it on any printed collateral. Good luck! |

speedo looks nice, but none of these have ANYTHING to do with mods and rating them...

i'd go with option 3, but like he said, you need something else. yeah, making logos does suck. but hey, start with acronyms. rate my mods - RMM. try to make some fancy, text-based design and incorporate a tach or something in it.

this would be a good example, i guess.http://www.quartzsitervshow.com/2007...Logo_small.jpg take a car. any car... i guess you could use a picture of a modded bimmer you like. with some photoshop or illustrator magic you can make it look like cars on that poster. with some cool font it will look good

the domain name pretty much says that all you do is rate car mods.. maybe sell mods and rate those? the logo designer doesn't seem to understand what the site is about.. he read car and stopped there... the traffic light is the best one till now, but I wouldn't use it personally try to give the traffic light a better twist.. comicky.. or whatever. I agree with cougarfan's post... rating them based on red, yellow green is a good idea. something I will advice against is using a friend. They usually are never well inspired when they do a friend a service. If your job is a professional, then perhaps if you pay him for a good logo, he will produce a better job. If he isn't a professional (based on his last logos.. wtf?) then get one. The logo is something that sticks by you for a very long time and it's something people should be able to recognize easily... this is my logo for my car forum. We have it on business cards, flyers, banners, our members have it on their cars, and every event we sponsor or do, people recognize it. It's a cheesy idea (the flame) but it is original and easily recognizable (even from a distance) and cannot be mistaken for anything else (in the country at least). The Font is not one used a lot either. PS: the logo and the text are 2 diff images that's why they aren't centered right. Oh and I'm not advertising, just giving my 2cents like others have.. if it's considered advertising, I'll gladly take it down..

I would choose #3 if it revved higher, like 8K or something
