Absolutely not. It would ruin the Camaro name.
Take the G8 and make it make it into the new Impala. Not only could you sell it to police forces who are going to be looking for a replacement for the Crown Victoria, but everyone would get that RWD Impala they've been clamoring about for so long. Literally all you have to do is put an Impala badge on it since there is already a Chevy badged version sold in the Middle East as the Lumina.

I think it's a great idea for Chevy to sell the car, but I'm with you on not calling it a Camaro. I'm not so sure Impala is the right way either. Personally I think they should call it something new, because a lot of the current nameplates have a lot of negativity associated with them. |

The G8 is already a rebadge. It makes as much sense to just make it a Chevy. And the Impala has a long enough history that an SS version like that would work well.
Hell, they could just leave it named Commodore with the Chevy badge on it. They already do that in the UK with the Vauxhall version of the Holden.

does that mean bye-bye? lol
You'd think Chevy would be more interested in saving its sporty turbo-charged coupe than saving yet another ho-hum sedan with a big engine. This is why the US car industry is failing. It's the same thinking that goes along with Ford not bringing the Focus RS to America "Hey boss, we just created an amazing, and affordable, little AWD turbo-charged hatch-back. We should definitely sell it in the states! It will match the performance of the EVO and STi while having a cost that is thousands less. It could really turn around the perception of american auto's, while simultaniously drawing in a whole new buyer demographic!" "Yea we could do that, but it'll encroach on the sales of the shit-tastic Mustang GT, so instead lets just keep doing the usual thing. It's worked for us thus far, right?" |

The only other variant of the Solstice, the Saturn Sky (which is undeniably better looking) is set to disappear with Saturn as well.

They better save one of them, or I'll just swear off American cars all together due to their severely flawed ideology.
