Audi RS5 not coming to USA?

Is it true that RS5 won't be introduced in the US?

there's no way it'd sell due to pricing.

Assuming a price point between 70-85k and a low volume of import, I think the car would sell very well.

I think the people in that price range aren't buying right now. It's the ones with more money who are buying, and the ones with less.

The ones with 80k are probably waiting a few years in the name of safety.

I don't see why you can't just special order the damn car with a non refundable deposit. Ship on the same boat that the A5 and S5 are on.

Price too high, value too low.
They might sell a handful, but probably not enough to offset the cost of making them US legal and dealer supported.

i doubt it. definitely not "very" well.

the badge isn't strong enough in the US for people to justify paying an extra 10-15k over an M3/IS-F/C63.

I can't imagine the tag in Canada if it comes here. I mean the A5/S5 is already over priced so the RS5 will be priced well over $100,000.

I would buy an RS5 fully loaded for 100k over an M3 at 89k. I doubt that's the price Audi will give canadians though, as the RS4 cost 95k + tax here as opposed to teh S4 which started at the price of the M3. Pretty stupid.

I still dont understand why Audi wants to sell cars with inferior performance for more money than the BMW counterpart. 335i is less money than S5 but performs better and has ARGUABLY comparable interior/exterior aesthetics.

Audi wants to pretend that the normal A5 is comparable to the 335i coupe. The only thing you can figure is that they at least priced the S5 to be a good $7k or so less than an M3 coupe so they know the performance isn't on that level. The RS5 might have comparable performance, but, based on the old RS4 Pricing, Audi would probably want $80k or so which would be ludicrous.

not surprised. As much as I love Audi I wouldnt pay 30K more than a C63, ISF,M3 etc. Id get a CPO RS4 before the RS5 anyways(they still cost 70K) btw

Wouldn't totally suprise me...they never did bring the S3 over here, and IMO that car, despite also being overpriced, would have had a better chance of selling well here than an RS5 would or will.

But yeah, I don't see a source either.

We don't need RS5 here in US. Audi will give us a much better alternative - A5 2.0T.

Uh No. The A5 is lke 3,750lbs. Save your 2.0T for something a little lighter.

I can't speak for the US or Canada but in the UK Audi is probably a stronger brand now than BMW or Mercedes and this is shown in resale value. Here in Northern Ireland Audi actually out sells BMW and that is from two dealerships to the four for BMW.

Obviously price has a lot to do with this, in the UK BMW and Audi are basically the same price for similar performance/specced models. Though even with Audi's sales matching those of BMW in the UK as a whole it still limits the number of RS models, keeping them exclusive and thus keeping the resale value high, BMW seem to look for the maximum amount of sales from their M models where as Audi seem to take the same approach as Porsche do. That may explain why my M3 is currently worth £39K being only 8mths ago yet a year old RS4 Avant is worth £46K.

I'm actually surprised given that the States in BMW's biggest market for M cars that resale isn't effected because of this, it's very unusual.
