Likely Never Before Seen Photos

These photos were taken at Ground Zero, the World Trade Center site in New York, on September 13, 2001.

They were taken by someone named "Ed" who was allowed into the area by a member of the emergency response crew, at a time when all civilians -- including most journalists -- were forbidden to enter the area. As a result, these photos are just about the only close-ups ever taken of the World Trade Center site so soon after the 9/11 attacks.

This is why we must protect ourselves at all costs. All those who oppose the wire-tapping, the patriot act, and other things done after 9-11 to prevent this shit are out of their minds. Tell me one person affected by the wire-tapping besides the terrorists! As much as I hate Bush for his stance on abortion and such, I love him for how he has handled everything after 9/11. Just think, after a tragedy like this the American Economy should be down the tubes, but actually unemployment is at an all time low and even though our economy is not as strong as pre-9/11, I never in my lifetime thought it would be this good. Can you believe how well NYC is doing! It was not long ago that people thought the days of the Big Apple were long gone. GUILIANI FOR PRESIDENT '08!!!

I disagree with the wire tapping and other things. We were warned about this sort of strike from Phillipine intelligence, we didn't heed the advice. I don't love Bush at all, and I think his foreign policy stinks. The terrorists were on student visas but never went to classes. We don't need wire tapping, we need better networking amongst schools, local, federal, aviation, motor vehicle, etc. authorities. Red flags should have sounded on the arabs learning to fly in Florida, they never did. We have yet to capture Osama Bin Laden, thats the bottom line. When a guys form of transport is donkeys and goats, I don't know why we have not found him yet.

At all costs? Speak for yourself, coward. I'd rather live under the threat of foreign terrorism than terrorism and oppression on behalf of my own government.

Oh, and a little advice to future administrations on foreign policy: tread carefully. And if you step on any toes, you'd better damn well cut off the foot those toes are attached to before whoever you've agitated can come after you. See above pictures for an example of what happens when you don't.

Victor ... you are going to end up with another deleted thread here. There is a big difference between calling someone a coward and calling someone a Nazi - what's up with you?

Anyway ... these photos remind me just how devastating 911 was. They also bring home just how difficult it must have been for the people who went in afterward to clean up.

It's easy to forget, but this was an utterly evil and cowardly act of terrorism.

America may have made itself a target for terrorism because of it's foreign policy, but I think it's power, economic success and western values make it a target anyway.

In a smaller way I would say the same in respect of the UK.

With the latest attempted bombings in the UK, it's easy to blame our gorvernment for taking us to war in Iraq, supporting the USA in Afghanistan and tacitly supporting Israel in the middle east.

But, notwithstanding the polictics, their can be no justification for the terrorism on 911, 7:7 and what was apparently planned for this week in the UK.

One of the key objectives of terrorists is to invade and influence our everyday lives.

When our freedoms are limited by measures to fight terrorism then the terrorists win.

This has got to be considered in balance, but we must not allow terrorists to affect the way in which we live our lives.

I have nothing to hide, you can tap my phone any time. The only people worried about wire tapping are those that have something to hide.

bmwbenz0101 is absolutely correct, we must protect ourselves at all costs from the Isalmo-Facists.

That's only true if you utterly trust the authorities - the government and the police.

However, there are plenty of cases where it has been proven that they make mistakes and on occasion act illegally.

That's why you need libertarian groups, in effect their slightly extreme left wing bent acts as a foil to balance excessively conservative policies and views. This in turn protects the general public from excess and abuse in either direction.

i watched WTC last night... it was pretty much what i expected... and i didn't want to watch it in the first place cause I thought it was going to be propaganda like flight 93 or w/e that movie was called. anyways... i thought it was an okay movie but i wouldn't recommend 10 bucks for it... if anything... watching the last like 10 minutes would suffice... it just talks about like how everyday people become heros from giving their all (their lives, family, etc) for people they dont know at all... and i guess its true that only when people are in the deepest need for help, we help em... but we ignore alot of smaller things... anyways... interesting pictures

btw its amazing that only 20 people were pulled out of the destruction... and some 2300 people were never found... just body parts n' stuff.

Yes - that's what I was getting at ... it's not that the USA are particularly bad to other countries - it's just that they have a lot of wealth and other countries have very little.

Our Government is unworthy of our trust, and the U.S. Constitution is not some flimsy document that the Executive Branch may selectively disregard.

I agree, like not protecting the people and not maintaining the sovereignty of our nation by keeping our borders secure. The President's lack of regard for this can easily be defined as treasonous.
