So I'm thinking about getting an '06 Z06?
I stumbled across an awesome deal, and they are willing to take my car on trade for an amount I'm Ok with. I've been feeling the bug to move along, I love my 335, but I'm doing more track driving these days and I really want something with more performance. The Z is an '06 with 14k, black on black/gray inserts, 2LZ, no nav, new tires. I have a few things I need to tie up with my other house, but after that is taken care of, I think I'll probably take them up on their offer later in the month. Anybody DD a Z06? I DD'ed an Evo 8 for 70k miles. Harsher suspension and a little more noise isn't going to brother me in the slightest. I think it would be fun for a few years.
Any input?

Doable if you don't need 4 sits, and you don't mind having more power than you can usually put down.

No car for the price of a Z06 can even come close. Dad had 1 and car is a complete animal. I don't think it rides that harsh or anything of that nature either, so i say go for it. You will NOT regret it. Don't forget though, when you get it ,go under a nice long tunnel and STOMP on it. The sound it will reward you with.... Will make you cry happy tears

Obviously a beast. I think the 06' had a few bugaboos. I am sure someone will chime in. One I do recall is the roof panel coming off at high speed on some cars.
Track guys are known to shudder a bit when they hear one rumble up beside them. Found this: OCT 05, 2005 | Recall ID# 14244 Hide Details Recall Reason STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS Recall Date OCT 05, 2005 Model Affected CORVETTE Potential Units Affected 123592 Recall Summary CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH A POWER STEERING HOSE THAT IS NOT TO SPECIFICATION. Can't comment on price, as they are all over the board. I've heard of some pretty crazy deals, but hard to validate.
In regards to the question on the Z06 being a DD. If you've put 70k miles on an Evo8, I would not worry about living with the Z06 at all. If anything, the Z06 would probably be more comfortable. The major issue would be ground clearance. You'll be dragging that car all over the place and will collect ANY debris on the road. Otherwise, it’s a supercar that you can use every day. I would do it.

Supercar that will walk a Gallardo.
If you don't need 4 seats, do it.

Yeah, I've driven a buddy's C6 Z often. The power the thing makes stock really is ridiculous. My brother has a 500 whp LS3 vette and they feel totally different. The LS3 is much more of a top end engine. We'll see. I just need to sit back and think about it for a while. I don't need more than two seats, GF has an IS250 and I don't have kids or anything.
