Test drove a bunch of cars and ended up with....
This:
![]() Its a CPO 06 IS350 with navigation, Mark Levinson, and the sport packagebwith 23k miles. Me and the fiancee went car shopping last Monday and drove a TL Type-S, an M35S, an FX35, a G37 sedan, a 335i sedan, along with the Lexus and the IS ended up being both of our favorites. I'll just put my flame suit on now but the 335i was fairly disappointing IMO. While it was technically a better driving car than the Lexus, to me the gap in performance was negligible. Both cars are slightly faster than my G37S but the Lexus has a MUCH nicer interior than the BMW with alot more luxury items for the price. Besides this will ostensibly be my fiancee's car so any performance deficit to the 335 won't be missed. I guess the deal was sealed when she looked over at me whle driving the BMW and said "This interior is like a granny car!" Anyway I got to drive alot of amazing cars and now I have two sitting in the garage! Enjoy! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Seriously, What is the point of testing the 335i a million times and posting threads about how it just isn't good?

I never said it wasn't good. Its amazing! I was just let down by the interior. If it were a question of exterior styling or engine the BMW would clearly win. My dream car is still an E92 M3 btw....

Did you consider an Audi? If interior is what seals the deal Audi offers the best in the business. If performance isn't a considerations you could have got away with a nice A4.

I'm not really a big Audi fan. I like the A5/S5 but the prices are outrageous. Plus the 3.2 in the A4 is just not enough power for me. Nice interior for sure though...

My wife and I just did the same the past weekend. The lease is ending on my 325i and she wasn't budging on her $30k budget constaints ![]() ![]() Obvioulsy $30k is still a good amount but we just weren't down with used. The APR's sucked and I didn't want to deal with paying for a car that would be out of warranty before payments are completed. I then began to look at everything. Didn't even peak at anything American. I pretty much narrowed down to my test driving the the Mazda 3 hatch and VW tiguan, GTI 4dr, and Jetta Sportwagen. Test drove the new Mazda 3 hatch, which was suprisingly nice and very well equipped at $25k. It was still a touch too small. We wanted and needed room so I was steering towards hatches, small suv's and wagons. We ended up with a 2009 Platinum Grey Jetta Sportwagen SEL 2.0T w/6spd DSG, panoramic sunroof and ipod connector. It's great. Handles well, brakes superbly and is rather quick with the 4cyl 2.0T. MSRP was $29.8k; we paid $27.5k about $400 above invoice and they had to bring it in from Chicago. Not actually my ride but looks identical. All I need to do is the GTI/GLI Xenon and front end conversion. ![]()

funny, I'm not a fan of the IS's interior at all. it just feels like tech bunched together in soft pillowy shapes. congrats regardless though, i remember your thread when you were hunting for g37's.
what color combo was the interior of the335i you drove. onlywayicould see it as a granny car would be wood on grey/beige...even black.

seriously. as far as styling goes, Audi is on top. And their interior fit and finish is superb. but performance always wins me over.

I dont get how you could complain about the interior when the performance of the car should keep your attention on the road. I guess even girls have difference preferences on the car nowadays. I know my gf would take her 335 over a Toyota any time of the day.

G37s is slower than the IS350? I thought it was a decent engine, but DAMN. Congrats on the upgrade. Get some F performance parts to upgrade your exhaust brakes suspension etc and keep your warranty if you plan on modding the car!

As some already said, Audis have the best interiors. IS for sure has lots of bells and whistles, but as far as styling goes, it looks cheap to me. It doesn't have any character, looks like a toy. Whatever makes you happy.

is350 is a joke....
my co worker has one and ive driven it so many times.... in my opinion no comparison in anyway to a 335, it feels like a faster camry. the 335 is the leader in its class, and the interior is way better then a lexus, lexus feels so cheap and cramped. |

yes I agree, cheap interior, and I can't get over the thickness of that steering wheel and just how chincy the center radio/nav/cd unit looks, oh well to each his own it's not my choice, but be happy because it's still better than most cars on the road

Judging by what you and your wife were looking for in a car, the IS was the right choice. IMO, its more luxurious like you said. I've driven my friends a couple times and used to have a turbo SC300. The IS and 335 both have a different feel when your behind the wheel. Neither car is worse than the other. It just depends on what your looking for in the car.
