I think I am going to have to drive one of these.

5.5L V8, 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque with 75% of peak torque available at 1,000 rpm . Not too bad really.

What's the deal with the PDCs in the front. sticking out like cold sores.

There are tons of cars that handle worse than the Merc, trash doesn't really apply. You can't compare it in terms of handling to an M3. M3 is a sports car, Merc is more of a mini grand tourer. The E550 coupe should be fine in the corners, not M3 sharp, but not trash either

They are comfy cushy cars and with excellent handling given their weight and suspension. And the AMGs are super autobahn cruisers. That's why they are built.

Stiff suspension and stiff ride or a softer suspension and softer ride, you can't quite have both in one car.

Get a M3 for certain days and a MB for those other days. They are different animals.

Is your wife that bad at driving? Maybe she's not the representative sample we should be using to make such conclusions.

You should give her some lessons or take away the keys.

BTW, in the last 3 days, I've seen 3 E9X M3s around town, all driven by WOMEN. I don't know if they were housewives, but they fit the age criteria. I looked real hard and didn't see any children's appendages caught in the front fenders.

Exactly. Well said.

I don't know how someone can say a Mercedes handles like "trash" in the corners. That's just an absolutely absurd, exaggerated statement. Yeah, maybe an ML or an R class would tank in the twisties.

You could say a Mercedes handles like trash in comparison to an F-22, or a Porsche 911 GT2. I could see that.

And why the hell do people decide that they must compare a 4 door touring car like an E550 sedan to an M3? Why not compare the handling capabilities to a 535/550? Is that asking to use too much common sense?

The guy was joking about how mercedes are driven by rich housewives
There is some kind of truth in his joke as they don't offer manual tranny and there cars including AMG comes with soft suspensions.

Most sports car come with a manual tranny. I got nothing else to say. Worst case they come with some kind of sequential gearboxes

They aren't sports cars. Can't any of you get that through your thick skulls?
It's a pic of the new E-KLASSE.

btw, the 3 series is not a sports car either, it's a "sports sedan/coupe." My Porsche is an actual sports car. Yes, lightweight and with a manual transmission and super stiff suspension (PSS-10s) And my E63 AMG is a very comfortable daily driver with a softer (not soft) suspension for better COMFORT and an auto transmission for COMFORT and dense city traffic. And with a box load of torque added in for fun.

When will you people ever figure out that cars are different for a reason. You cannot have ONE perfect car, there are going to be compromises with each.

btw, you should see the "rich housewives" in BMWs here in LA. Everywhere I look.

What is it with this stereotyping?
