wow... wish i had put a camera in my car for my last service. on the invoice when I got the car back the miles out and miles in were only different by 3 miles, but when i looked at the odometer, it was actually 16 miles that had been driven...

how did his camera record for so long? wouldn't the battery have died or the memory filled up?

+1 same happens to me. they state a "road test" on the invoice and they end up taking a 10 mile road test. I ended up averaging 8 MPG for some reason.

Someone needs to find out information about that camera. I seriously need one.

Looks like that dealer has issued a statement about this:

Short version: dealer owner took the owner of the truck out to lunch on Memorial Day and offered a personal apology, and a $2000 extended maintenance plan for free. Owner of the truck has returned to dealer for service three times since. Three techs and the service manager were fired.

Good to see action being taken.

I guess this isn't common sense?

I've never left anything in my car before taking it to any mechanic since I could drive. I also take out anything of value before going out drinking and I know I'll be parked somewhere car break-ins are common.
