for me its almost fail. too much rear overhang and the 3/4 angle looks fat, chunky. interior very nearly reminds me of an american car, buick maybe. i think its the thin wood strip lining the fron of the dash. anyway, need to see it in person. probably will have some presence

If I owned a Jag dealership, I'd stock up on all of the launch colors, those C-pillars are going to need to be finished at the dealer. Shame.

Front = CXF = perfect.
Side = predictable but nice.
Rear = Not sure, but I'm sure in real-life will be great.

Interior is the best. A mix of old/new. I love every detail.

I like everything but the front so far. Rear reminds me of a Bentley Continental sedan.

Agreed. It's a very traditional, tried-and-true formula for design; short front over hang and long rear. Classy proportions.

I wish they didn't black those sloping C-Pillars though. Seems like a very Citroen-esque gimmick to me.

+1000

I'm not a fan of the floating roof section. I think the pillar should be body coloured, and have the optional black roof.

Someone made this edit on the pillar, very nice:

Thumbs up

I like it.

Give it two-tone interior seats and it looks even better.

your observations are correct. but i notice the design of the C pillar on the classic XJ and your E38 - it slopes down quickly. i think the elongated flowing design of the C pillar on the new XJ creates an illusion of enhanced proportions. painted C pillars might look better.

I can't look at the steering wheel without thinking it looks like a classier version of the one from the new Camaros. Nicely crafted inside, but the rear doesn't match the rest of the car.

There are some very elegant lines going on. I like it. The interior especially, although it would be nice to see how the wooden wraparound looks from eye-level.

I'd have to say, though, that I liked the traditional XJ design better (externally) and I'll be sad to see it go, but I guess it's well past time for that.

Don't like the tail lights, otherwise it doesn't look too shabby. Wrong emblem on the steering wheel, should be the jag face thing they usually do.

A worth rival to the german brands' counterparts for sure. The exterior design has a bit of influence from Audi (most noticeably the LED daytime running lights, and the side profile of the car), but the interior is definitely very fresh and interesting design. It is a nice alternative to the cool, clean, but a little too serious looking feel of the BMW, Audi, and Mercedes' interior.
