For all those hitting the gym to get back in shape..what's your progress?
I remember there being several members who wanted/were in the process of getting in shape a while back. Just wanna know what's your progress is like thus far.
This is me so far, I should reach my desired goal by summer of 2010. Changed eating habit and lifestyle..and never looked back! In order...Aug 24th 2008, Feb 24th 2009, and today. I need to get that 6 pack set up by summer of 2010. As always..thanks to Michael AKA boostedbmw for the help! |

been going for a little less than a month. started eating better. run 2 miles and walk about 2 more increasing the distance every time. can't really run too far because my knee's been messed up since i ate it snowboarding in february.
Nike+ with the new iPhone is pretty motivating too. 184 right now. down from 192 on 6/15.

FYI if you run, you need to get real running shoes..Brooks, Asics, New Balance. My $80 Asics are a lot better than the Nike running shoes I had that were $120-160.
I run 4 miles in 30 mins before my workout BTW. |

It sounds pretty crazy, but i had to get some support insoles molded to my feet, and they help alot! I also had to replace my 5 year old New Balance shoes, so i got a pair of Nike Equalon+ 3. They are super light, and very comfortable. Plus they got space for my Nike+ sensor. Tried some NB's, Asics and Adidas, but Nike's were the most comfortable of them all.

As long as they're good to you, it's all that matters, man. BTW it's best to replace running shoes every 350-500 miles, depending on how heavy/light you are.
I wish I can have some molding done for me, lol. |

mizuno makes great running shoes, too.
my getting in shape for summer has taken a huge hit this year since i've just been sitting and studying for the past 2 months. I'll start after I take my last exam on the 22nd. my right thumb injury and sternum injury haven't been helping either I've been losing lbs like crazy since I haven't been working out. I think I am down to 175 (5'10") now and feel weak. I got bored the other day and did 3x10 bicep curls at 35lbs and was tired and sore the next day. haha. |

I don't keep a log or anything but a year ago I was about 180-190. All I did was lift and eat w/ very little cardio. Went on a low-carb diet and went down to 165 for now. I get compliments from coworkers and friends all the time, but I feel I'm nowhere near where I want to be.
I'm going to try the 5x5 method at www.stronglifts.com. My scale says I'm still at around 20% body fat so I'm a fatso.

I haven't been working out but I've started eating better and have lost about 15 lbs compared to the same period last year. My goal is to lose another 5-8 lbs and I should be good to go.

I find that eating habits have far more effect than exercising habits to lose weight. I was about 230lb in high school because of football and I was pretty big in terms of muscle and fat since I was a lineman. Then after football, that muscle turned to mush and I was just a ball of fat lol. As of now, I'm 165 lb and going to be a junior in university. It's all about eating habits for me lol. I ate lean chicken and rice for like a month = lost 10 lbs. Had septoplasty for a deviated septum and couldn't eat much = lost 10 lbs. Had an internship and so I couldn't eat dinner very well because I would get home at 10 and just knock out = lost 15 lbs. Started a low carb diet = 10 lbs lost in a month. Started a low calorie diet = lost 10 lbs in a month. Lol just like that -_- very weird and I didn't exercise at all during those 2 some years.

Been working out (consistently) since beginning of May. Put on 10-12 lbs to this date in muscle. I was hoping for around 20 lbs but I think that's a bit optimistic.

Lifestyle//workout
You guys are far ahead of the crowd..my only advice after 65 years of alot of the same thing..is to find a active lifestyle that you can easily maintain..diet and exercise..because when you hit 50..that is when the knees, ankles, shoulders, back,bloodpressure,diabitis-2, begins to hit...oh, yeah..and your sight goes when you are 40...SLOW AGEING DOWN..DON'TADD TO IT..and good luck..you guys will really apopreciate later
