I have just figured out my next car...

When I am finished paying off my car in the next few years I am going to purchase or try to get a Nissan GT-R. I found that ever since I bought my 335i everyone and their momma wants one. I'm tired of the haters and the 1up'ers.. I think a GT-R would shut them up for good.

Its time to do the ultimate 1up. What do you guys think?

I think it's time to drive whatever you want to drive and don't worry about '1upping' anybody. Who cares about the haters and what everyone else and their momma wants?

Besides, a GT-R is hardly the "ultimate" 1up. Bugatti Veyron maybe?

I have had BMW cars ever since I started driving. I have always admired the Skyline.. Now that the GT-R is here... it is time.. also I figure after a few years they will become cheaper as well..

Iam amazed at the cost of maintaining that ugly Nissan:

18,000 mile service (filters and fluids): $2500
Brakes (last 30-40k under normal driving): $6000
All fluid intervals change to 1800mi if you track it.

Sure i missed a lot more tiny bits but you get the idea.

I visit the Tail of the Dragon with my Porsche quite often and I am pretty hard to keep up with by most cars. I thought I was pretty fast until I had a new GT-R put me in my place on one of the straights. Thing went by me like I was backing up. I would catch up in the curves and he would pull away from me on the straight sections.
That thing has massive power.
I want one too.

this is a ALL BMW site, what do you think we would say.
but forget what ANYBODY else thinks.
it's your money, and you got to drive it.
get what you want, always. if you are a car nut,
these are the things that make us happy.
and driving the car you want, is what makes us happy.
i'm keeping my BMW. and when my S60 AWD turbo dies,
i'm getting a 135i conv, or a 335i conv. & will be an all BMW family.
because this is what will make this BMW nut Happy !

For that kind of money, I would look at a used M6 or 997S

Ok, you are comparing a Veyron to a GT-R?
Veyron = what, about $2 mil after import?
GT-R = what, $80k now?
I guess if money is no problem, I would get the Veyron too, but c'mon be a lil real here.
I respect your opinion, but I would go for the GT-R, even if I had $2 mil to drop! After a year your sick of it anyway and want something else. You will lose more than you paid for the GT-R when you sell the Veyron.
Now outside of those two cars, I personally would go for the GT2 or even the GT3.

I really don't see the GTR coming down much in price. My boss has the first MY and if anything I see the damn thing appreciating. It's fully loaded with the super silver paint and he took it in for the Nissan transmission upgrade and software flash. The first MY will be in demand as their price and launch control available stock compard to the 2010's will be a big advantage. I do love the car, but even he has admitted to me that my car is better looking even if his can spank mine.

Drive what you want and who cares what other folks think. Don't go into debt to "shut them up".

UGLY, are you kidding me? This thing makes your Porsche look like a thing of the past, and I love Porsche's. Not to mention it will spank any Porsche you own, straight line or track! LOL
So I guess the Porsche maintenance is cheaper? (the sound you hear on a game show when you get the wrong answer)
We do have one thing in common tho - Keira Knightley OMG!

I think ght GTR is ugly too - immature exterior design and video game interior. I like a car that has a little class WRT to styling. I suppose that would appeal to kids though...

i think it's really nice lol

i think the R8 is much sexier, no question

for the price, it's hard to beat.... but for a little more, I'd take a used 997 Turbo or R8.
but since i want 4 seats, the R8 prly wouldn't work....

Sounds like the GT-R's warranty is pretty f'd up.... but no more than our own...
But who cares about warranty... If you like the car get it, but don't do it for one upmanship, thats just a waste...

Yousa funny dude!
OK, Ok I hear ya on the class, hence my previous post about the GT's, but I do not think it is ugly, it is just JDM, rather than German is all.
Lit my ass up on that one! Heh.

1. 997 Turbo.
2. Audi R8

GT-R doesn't come with a standard shift, unless that is okay with you.
