Canada is the highest per capita M market in the world

I couldn't believe it either, but thats what the head of BMW Canada told the Globe and Mail in this article: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/auto/...rticle1280912/

I suppose it makes sense. Canada is probably the second cheapest place outside of the US to buy an M, and their small and relatively affluent population could could put them on top per capita. The U.S with 300 million+ people probably has much much smaller per capita M sales than most countries, even though the most M cars are sold in the US. On the other hand, Canada doesn't have the best weather for driving an M car!

This coming from a guy in Denver!

Pretty interesting - I guess that is why this forum has a pretty active Canada section.

Happy to do my part!

all of these points plus tastes which are more european in the big cities (vs the large us cities)... i suspect sales of european cars in general are also higher on a per capita basis

+1...we got the 1st-gen Smart car (a CDI!) several years ago and more recently the Merc B-class

Even Honda attempts to sell a small premium car here, the Acura CSX (aka the EL), which is more or less a Civic with leather and a bigger price tag, but I see those everywhere

Sadly, you are correct. Compounded with atrocious roads (at least in Québec) it makes for very few enjoyable days for driving M cars.
